I have a brand new Whirlpool fridge that is in Demo mode. How do I turn it on?

Demo Mode is used in the showroom to light up the fridge and not provide cooling.

To Start Demo Mode

1. Select the Tools keypad.
2. Scroll and select INFO.
3. Select Store Demo Mode and select ON. NOTE: The display screen will show the time
4. Select the Tools keypad.
5. Select Try the Product or View Product Videos.

To Exit Demo Mode:

1. Select Try the Product.
2. Scroll and select Explore.
3. Select the Tools keypad.
4. Scroll and select INFO.
5. Select Store Demo Mode and select OFF.
6. Select YES on the confirmation screen.

To turn off Demo Mode:

1. Press SETTINGS 12 times. "Demo Mode" and "ON. Press (1) to OFF" will appear in the display text area.

2. Press the "1" keypad to change the Demonstration Mode setting to Off.

3. "OFF Selected" will scroll in the text area. Demo Mode has been turned Off.

Exiting the Showroom/Demo Mode: Pressing and holding LIGHT and MAX ICE again for 3 sec OR unplugging and plugging in the power cord exits the showroom mode and returns to normal operation

Are you sure you have the right model #? Your refrigerator's model number may vary by type. The model number of a top freezer refrigerator can be seen along the upper left side wall of the fresh food compartment and is visible when the door is opened. The model number of a french door and side-by-side refrigerator can be seen along the upper right side of the fresh food compartment and is visible when the door is opened.

Either the fridge's controller is trying to indicate a failure, or a temporary power failure has reset the fridge and it's demo mode. Demo mode is the mode used in stores where the lights and stuff will work but the motor doesn't run. Exiting demo mode may be as simple as unplugging it again for a few minutes, but you should look in the troubleshooting section of your manual to find out for you specific model.

Ours did the same thing and we returned it for an exact same model. Happy to report that the second one works just fine. Don't waste any more time on this defective one!
