I have 2 2 ohm dvc alpine type r 12 inch subs. Each voice coil on both subs reads 2.5 on ohm meter. I need wireing diagram to hook up to a boss 2500 class a/b amp at 2 ohm

It will depend on the capability of your amp. Each sub has dual voice coils (DVC). Each voice coil is (probably) 4 ohms. If your amp is a single channel, 1 ohm stable amp, you can connect all of the voice coils from both subs in parallel on the amp output. Other configurations will depend on the amp's number of channels and minimum resistance your amp can withstand.

There are a couple different ways you can wire up this speaker as it is a DVC speaker. Duel Voice coil, it has two + post and two - post. A dual 4-ohm voice coil subwoofer with its coils wired in parallel presents a 2-ohm load to your amplifier. Since an amplifier produces more wattage at a lower impedance, the parallel connection ensures you'll get the most output from your amp.
Series wiring lets you configure multiple woofers to one amplifier at an acceptable impedance. Wire both coils in series for an 8-ohm impedance, and then wire two 8-ohm subs together in parallel for 4-ohm total impedance.
You can wire each voice coil to a separate channel of your amplifier, if you prefer not to bridge your amp. Independent wiring is a nice option if you're wiring two DVC subs to a 4-channel amplifier - one voice coil per channel
Depending on what you are hooking it up to i.e. a mono amp or a bridged four channel amp. I can tell you post to wire exactly if I know how you want to hook it up and what ur hooking it up to.

This is a D class amp ,which usually means it will run @ 2 ohms with no problem .The issue is that the Type R subs are dvc and 4 ohms per voice coil ,there is no way to get a 2 ohm load to really make the amp perform at its best . I speaker parrallel will work the amp harder than both subs ,If you run the amp at 4 ohms it will work and probably not even get warm ,I would series parrallel The way I would do it is on each sub run a wire accross the + terminal and the opposite - terminal the remaining + and - terminals from both subs wired together to the according + and - terminals at the amp ... this will read 4 ohms at the amp . you can try wiring all + and - together to + and - terminals at the amp ,this will be 1 ohm and will probably be loud as hell ,but you risk the amp getting hot and shutting down ,If competing and short burst ,probably ok for a few minutes . 4 ohms will run cooler and much longer .

First of all. Using two different kinds of sub woofers, is not an option, as these two sub woofers have different specifications and you should never mix sub woofers. Now the better choice from the 2, would probably be the Rockford. (cant be sure without knowing the models, power handling is also a factor in how well either of the sub woofers will play, but Rockford as a rule makes better sub woofers than Sony does) In my opinion, both the sub woofers deserve a better amplifier than what Boss has to offer. However to connect either of these sub woofers, you would need to determine how many voice coils it has and how many OHM the voice coil/s are. If it is a DVC (dual voice coil) and each voice coil is 4 OHM or 2 OHM, then you can connect one voice coil to one channel of the amplifier and the other voice coil to the other channel of the amplifier. If it is a DVC 2OHM you can also connect it wired in Series/Series to give a 4OHM load and should be connected to the BRIDGE dedicated speaker outputs of your amplifier. If it is a SVC (single voice coil) and it is 4 OHM, then you can connect the sub woofer to the designated speaker outputs of your amplifier that states BRIDGE. DO NOT run the amplifier in BRIDGE mode at 2 OHM as this will probably damage the amplifier. dreamsystems

they best way to do this is with a multi meter on the OHMS setting.... to do this set the multi meter to the least ohms setting, usually it reads 20 or under. Connect the wires to each voice coil (by the speaker wire connections) if the multi meter reads 2 to 4 ohms whichever your speaker is, then the voice coil is not blown, but if it reads 8-10-12-14 or OL which means open loop then the coil in junk.

SINCE YOU NEED A 1 OHM LOAD, I PRESUME BRIDGED AND ARE USING TWO SUBS, THEN HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE THE DUAL VOICE COIL TYPE, AS THEY ARE DUAL 4 OHM AND YOU WILL HAVE TO CONNECT THE VOICE-COILS IN PARALLEL WHICH WILL MAKE EACH SPEAKER A 2 OHM SPEAKER AND THEN CONNECT THE TWO SPEAKERS THEMSELVES IN PARALLEL AND THIS WILL PROVIDE YOU THE 1 OHM LOAD. IF YOU IN FACT HAVE THE SINGLE 4 OHM VOICE COIL VERSION, THEN IT WILL ONLY PARALLEL THE PAIR DOWN TO 2 OHMS. OK. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V

If you have the Alpine SWR-1222D, that's a dual 2 OHM Sub. So, the way you have it hooked up to the amp ,it's 1 Ohm, and unless your amp can safely operate at 1 OHM, you are better off connecting the voice coils in series so the amp will see 4 OHMS. With a single 4ohm DVC sub there are only two possible wiring solutions, parallel the voice coils for a final 2ohm load or series the voice coils for an 8ohm load. In your case, you want to wire them in parallel, both positives and both negatives connected to the amp terminals.

Here are the diagrams: (-) to (-) and then to the amp - (+) to (+) and then to the amp. Impedance = 2ohms.

The amp is rated to run a 2 ohm load on each channel. To do this, connect the voice coils of one sub in parallel (tie both "+" on the sub to each other and both "-" on the sub to each other), then connect that sub to one channel of the amp. Repeat this process for the other sub and connect it to the other channel on the amp. The subs will be in stereo and the amp will be outputting it's maximum power.

I can relate to feeling it in the bones. You got the stuff to do it.  You should try the Alpine MP3 head units with bass boost, those are bad to the bone.

 

Wiring: 

 

Amp to Speaker I like to use the code VC for Voice coil, and AO for Amplifier output.  Also + for positive.  If I say VC1-, I am referring to the first connector starting left to right on the Alpine Sub. Now I have not seen a Kicker KX1200.1 amplifier.  All I see are MRA, MRP, or PDX prefix on the part numbers. So take what I am saying as a guess. You may want to revisit looking at the model of the amp to be sure your giving the right information.

 

We are going for  2 Ohms. Paralleling the two subs, not the voice coils. The voice coils will be series.  Bridge the amp if necessary to get mono channel. only using AO+ and AO- for output.

Set your Crossover to LPF

Adjust the bass gain down to lowest until you test.

Set the Frequencies to midrange between 40 and 100hz  

 

Your box can be ported or not. It depends on the space your have.  If you do not have much room, go Enclosed and build a box that the inside space is less than 1 cubic foot.  Make sure you give barely  enough clearance for the speaker to fit.  If you have room, Go with a box and vent it with a 3 inch Vent tube 10 inches long.
