SOURCE: Eureka Maxima Bagless brush not spinning in vacuum position

belt doesnt have to be broken, check the metal arm on the vacuum, see if there is build up of old rubber from previous belts, clean the arm that spins the belt and double check to make sure u have the correct belt

SOURCE: Burning smell and smoke

I ran into a scenario similar to this at work. With the burning smell and smoke combined, it leaves only one problem remaining; the motor. The motor and the pulley that enables the belt to spin could be malfunctioning (causing friction between the 2 parts) and thus causes the burning smell and the smoke. I'd highly advise not to touch either part after having the unit on (YOU WILL BURN YOURSELF).

The only other likely possibility is to make sure there aren't any hairs caught in or around the motor and the bearings of the agitator.

SOURCE: sebo x5 vacuum cleaner

The full bag light comes on when it is getting full or a blockage in the hose or the dirt inlet by the brush roll. Other then that, there is a circuit board called the computer controller, part #5740ER and is giving you a false reading and causing a shut down.

SOURCE: Makes a loud noise like a grinding noise.

Your belt is worn and stretched and so it is slipping on the motor drive shaft. That is why it is noisy and smells like burning rubber. You simply need to replace the belt. You can get replacement belts here:

Sebo x4 grinding noise and smell. have changed both belts but problem persists

Suspect the motor bearings.
Many machines now have too much plastic, causing melt down within a short time after the warranty has expired.
Might be time for replacement.
God bless your efforts.

Sebo vac grinding noise and burnt smell

Take it to your local vac shop for assessment. Sounds like a bad motor. If they are not a Sebo dealer, make sure they know that a X1 motor is not the same as an X4 motor. It should cost around $200 for the total repair . A new X4 is $799 so the repair is usually a good idea.

It might be a slipping rubber belt, is the brush roller moving when you look underneath? If it's a self propelled machine there might be another slipping belt. Friction from fast rubbing rubber can smell like it is burning.

Try replacing the belt. My vacuum cleaner had the same problem and once the belt was changed the burning smell was gone.
