Question about Sony VAIO VGN-FZ240E/B Laptop
With a loud squeal, it is either your hard drive eating itself up or a fan trying to spin. If it sounds like a pretty songbird caught in a blender, it's probably your hard drive. If it sounds like your younger brother trying to make the most annoying sound in the world, it's probably your fan. To check you could blow compressed air into the fan ports to see if it dislodges a lot of dust. I'm guessing that it's your hard drive though because it is accompanied by the clicking which may be your hard drive trying to reset itself, but having a physical problem. Don't worry, after a few minutes it usually fails completely and you won't have to listen to that noise any more. Maybe take the hard drive out and put it in an external case and see if another computer can read it. Or go on Craigslist and find someone to fix it for you for $40.

I have placed two hard drives in the computer that I know work and blown out the fan. Still have same squeal. Sometimes with power on, it goes past the VIAO screen, sometimes to the black screen with the flashing spacer bar and sometimes rarely to a blue screen.
