You need a cable that has a 2.5mm stereo connector on one end and two "RCA" connectors on the other end. Plug into the headphone connector on your device, and the other end to the back of your receiver's "aux" input.

How to hook a carver TFM 45 to a Marantz AV 8003 pre amp with Bose 901 speakers thank you very much

The output of the Marantz will go to the input of the Carver. The Bose EQ has to go into a Tape Monitor on the Marantz, or, you can connect the Marantz output to the Bose line in(not tape in). The line output of the Bose, to the Carver input.

Is there anything else I'm missing?

You can but you will have to put two speakers on the main L/R and two speakers on the remote L/R. DO NOT HOOK UP MORE THAN ONE SPEAKER TO A CHANNEL. Doing so can result in the amp running hot and damage will occur.

Hook, yes. Use with NON-Bose 901 speakers, NO.

The 901's need a dedicated amplifier. Get one, then use the L/R Pre-Outs to feed it.

On the back of the receiver there are connections, usually record player should be hooked up on Phono slot. If Phono is not available, trying using Aux or another slot that isn't being used. After hooking it up, remember the place you hooked it up, turn on the turntable, play a record, then hit the button on the receiver where the turntable is hooked up.
