Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
My washer gets to the end of the cycle, drains, and then instead of stopping has now begun restarting the whole cycle and begins refilling. Any ideas on what I can do? Thank you!
We have this exact problem. The repair guy told us it would be over $400 to replace the whole control panel. So for now we set a timer for 1 hour and if you are standing at the washer when it finishes you can open the door to prevent it from restarting. Until we get a new washer this is what we will do.

I've had the same problem...you can purchase a replacement lid switch at your local appliance parts store for about $35. Fortunatly, the sales person at the appliance store had diagrams and provided instructions to replace the switch. I was able to finish the job and fix the switch in less than 1 hour. Good Luck.

You might have an object jammed in the pump housing. First thing you must do is to unplug the machine from the power outlet. You will then need to remove the back panel of the washer to access the pump. Disconnect the wiring from the pump and remove the two hoses by compressing the two clamps. ( Be ready for water to pour out of the hoses) Remove the three mounting bolts that hold the pump to the frame of the washer and remove the pump assembly. It is easier to work on the pump if you remove it from the mounting plate. Remove the three screws that hold the impeller housing to the pump motor. Seperate the two parts being careful not to damage the rubber o-ring that seals the unit. Inspect the impeller housing for any debris. (I found a nickle blocking the outlet port in mine). Remove anything you may find and reassemble in reverse order. The machine should reset itself and run as normal.
