lift the top remove the black ribbon then you can see the lift off tape it should lift up then install the new cartridge.

Some SCM have 2 small round spools or a cartridge with the tape in it first you have to find out which one you have.....

The L/O is a cassette SCM #21060 or General Ribbon T369. The ribbon is a (H) series SCM # 21060 or G. R. T309C.

To switch fonts on this typewriter, you need to change the letter wheel. Unfortunately, there is no practical way to change the letter wheel in the middle of a document.
