I no longer have access to the email address registered to my PayPal account

Even if you no longer have access to the email address, you must still enter this address to log in to your PayPal account as this is how the PayPal system recognises you. After you log in, you can change the email address then use the new one when you next log in to your account.
If you definitely only have one PAYPAL account, I suggest you go the the PAYPAL Help section and report the problem.

SOURCE: I returned an item that was defective. I paid 30 dollars for shipping and $140 for the item. I received a credit for $112. What gives?

call the company and send them a copy of the receipt and also one from the return and tell them they can't seems like they are charging you a restocking fee or some hidden fee. I would investigate much more than asking out here.

They can become a lot more pliable once their charges are recovered... So go immediately to Discover Card...

and no matter how inviting or convenient...

TELEPHONE them... using the number posted on the back of the CARD... YOUR card... in your hand.

Relate your tale of woe... and they will advise you.

If it was an AMAZON purchase prepare to be delighted and amazed... If it was an eBay purchase AND you have AN ADEQUATE REASON you MIGHT not have to pay RETURN POSTAGE...

As for the real world be prepared to cover both return shipping and restocking fees...

Depending on the RETAILERS customer focus

Multiply number of defective items by original cost then multiply by five and divide by eight to discover discount.

Original cost minus discount will give you the amount you seek.

FIXYA could be meddling into your private accounts & finances...!!

Even if we wanted to do so... It would be UNWISE.

You have two options here ...
- Contact your credit agency to check your challenge...
- Contact CUSTOMER Support at AMAZON.

Tossing out any relevant numbers or IDENTITY
on-line is always a BAD IDEA...

I would vigorously encourage you to EDIT OUT
your transaction ID... It is something SCAMMERS can use AGAINST you (do it now).

L have a credit from a company for a returned item, now can that credit be used to pay for any item i purchase from other people as on ebay?

credit has to be returned to your account or it is not credit but captured cash for the company
Talk with a lawyer as to how to get it back into your account
and that is why you should only use paypal as the credit would have to go to your paypal account then you can use it on other e-bay purchases

Contact the party you returned the phone to. Did you have an RMA? Did you receive notification of receipt? Do you have tracking number for your return?

Returned item but my credit card does not any credit applied

Good morning Gerry.

There are a few things to consider:
  1. Has the item arrived back at the manufacturer? (Do you have a tracking number or such that you can use to verify delivery?) Manufacturers won't generally issue a refund until they have the rejected item back and verified to be what they sent out. (If this was at a brick and mortar store, never mind)
  2. Was it returned to a place that is/was in holiday crunch mode? If you did the return in the middle of a big sale or Black Friday preview, returns may have been stacked up with return info, to be processed when someone has time.
  3. More broadly, have you contacted the seller and told them what was returned and when? You'll likely be able to at least get some info on how quickly such refunds are processed, and if they have a record of submitting the refund. if they think they did so, ask for any return or confirmation codes they had with your credit card company.
  4. It could be with your credit card company. If you have info from the store about what they say they did, (or don't but know when you returned it), call your credit card company - the customer service # is usually on the back of the card. Explain the situation and ask if they have record of a return, or of whatever the store might have told you. It could be an issue of if/how they update their website, holiday policy on when/how refunds are updated, or, say, a protest or issue lodged by the store. Or they may just say they have no record, upon which you go back to the store and either call the 'pants on fire' or say there's no record, and go through the more exhaustive making them do what they say the did/will do.

Simply advise your credit card company via letter that you returned the item and present to them proof of return and tell them you will not pay the disputed amount on your bill - but will pay for everything else and you are expecting a credit from the vendor. The card company by law has to investigate and resolve the issue.
