Install a brand new needle. If it still does not pull up the bobbin thread, then the machine is probably out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My Janome 4052 sews well if the material isn't thick or double knit. The top thread doesn't catch the bobbin thread, or it it does it's only for a few stitches

Could be top thread tension is two low. Be sure stitch is centered between fabric layers. Increase tension if top thread is showing on wrong side.

When I sew a seam, the bobbin stitch will just pull right out. Anything that I can try?

It has not been under tension when the seam was sewn, check your bobbin threading sequence and refer to your manual. The thread needs to click into a tension spring or similar device on all sewing machines.

For general machine tips, maintenance and help, try www.sewing.about.com - it has lots of information.

Tension dial on my sewing machine is not working

Hi, Liz. When you adjust your tension, be sure the pressure foot is down. The pressure foot needs to be up when you thread the machine so the thread will slip easily between the tension disks, but when you adjust the tension the disks have to be tight (pressure foot down).

There are other possibilities, but this is the best place to start running the problem down. Please let me know if this does the trick, ok, and if not, we can try something ele.

Happy Sewing
