Remote control

I would try a new remote first, if that doesn't correct the problem you have an issue with the main circuit board in the AC unit.

Ac not cooling

Try turning the main isolator off for 10 minutes to reset the system. If it doesn't clear the error, count how many times the light flashes which will give you the error code.

Programming my mitsubishi remote

If the remote is specific for your model of Mits (or a range of Mits models) it should be able to do every function including time/date/timer record. If by chance this is a universal remote box (it doesn't look so by the part number you supplied), many such boxes- especially lower cost ones, may not be able to do those advanced functions. Your remote box should have a menu button which will allow you to access all the setup areas. One site shows your remote http://www.replacementremotes.com/store/prodthumbs.cfm?sr=101&CATEGORYID=289 and there is a menu button on it. It is possible the remote box has a problem (well used boxes can have buttons which fail to work, or are difficult to activate. Did you purchase these new, or used? If used, then perhaps a dead or difficult button is a fair possibility. If this is the problem, sometimes this can be fixed or improved by taking the box apart and cleaning the button pad and matching contact surfaces on the circuit board.
