Nothing....Cable will continue to run the same as it does now. The only place the HD comes in to play is Over-the-Air.

Now, if you'd prefer better picture quality you can always move to a better resolution TV. You can find decent units all over right now, but trying to nail down a price is hard considering I don't know your viewing habits, TV size requirements, etc.

How do I convert an HD tv that doesn't have HDMI to be able to use this format?

There are adapters that can covert the HDMI signal to a DVI plug, but at a price. DVI does not handle audio as does HDMI. Most devices that have HDMI outputs will not parallel the audio to allow you to use adapter plus audio cables. You have most likely come upon this issue of obsolescence in you current device.

Just got my 32" and am not clear on whether it can be connected directly to cable wire or if it has to go through the converter box. Thoughts?

Yes it should be fed through the coverter box, otherwise you'll not be able to get any digitally enhanced channels. If it is HD you definately need to use the converter/cable box.

Flat batteries in the remote? Batteries the wrong way around in the remote? Corroded battery terminals in the battery holder?

Is this a digital television? will i need a digital box with my television in 2009 ?

The "DTV ANSWERS" website says that any TV made since 2004, has a built-in digital tuner and will not require a digital converter box. If you currently receive your TV signals from your cable, satellite, or phone company, you won't need a converter box, even if you have an older non-digital TV. Only people with TVs made before 2004, will need to purchase a converter box, if they don't use TV signals from cable, satellite, or phone companies.
You might want to visit the RCA website, to see if they have a phone number to call, for any additional questions.

Making Trinitron HD-compatible

Every one seems to have a problem understanding what real will happen in Feb 2009 First if you already watch TV from a cable provider you WILL NOT have a problem, Now if you have a set that picks up a signal over the air (rabbit ears or antenna) then you will be affected and will need a converter. Check www.dtvtransition.org for more details. And Finlay if you watch from a satalight receiver you will be fine
