Gateway laptop screen replaced twice in 60 days. they work bit will not light up after 25 to 30 days. both were new from two different sellers and have different manufacturers

Have you tried a factory restore?

Has the screen got a built in supply? doe's ot have a direct mains connection?
If the screen has been tested and works by a bench technitian they will have used a bench supply.
It might be worth trying a different PSU.

If it was not the right kind of LCD it may have blown the inverter (where the LCD connects and the cable going to the motherboard). You should order parts only from an authorized Gateway part reseller as advertised on the Gateway website. I have included a link to one such place below, where you can purchase a new inverter board and LCD screen if needed.

NO!! That's not reasonable, and the seller knows it!! I'm an avid ebayer and if they're going to try to charge you to make it right, you should file a Paypal or Ebay Resolution claim today, or the seller will draw it out until the 60 days has passed and you'll have no recourse at all. (I assume you've already left positive feedback by now).
If this has been over 60 days, pay him the $60. You can get the labor cheaper, but not with the part included. Pay him through Paypal so you can keep the option of a new claim

First test if it works on an external monitor. If it does you will need to clear the CMOS. To clear it:
remove the battery, unplug the cord, and hold the ON button down for 30-60 seconds. Then turn it on. Thats how you clear it on most laptops.
If it does not work on the external monitor, you probally have a bad video card and need to replace the old one

I'm not sure if your referring to the lcd monitor (gateway brand) or a laptop's lcd screen not working anymore.

1. if it's an lcd monitor...
a. test monitor in a different pc before assuming the problem is the lcd screen
b. replace the monitor if after testing monitor is in deed the item failing.

2. if it's the lcd screen from your gateway laptop.
a. you may be able to attach a regular analog monitor to the paralel port on your gateway.. test and see if the monitor that you attach will give you a picture (you may have to toggle with some some keys on your laptop keyboard to make have the signal going to the "externa" or attached monitor.
if the other monitor does not work either.. you video controller on your motherboard on your laptop may be failing and you may not have other options that to replace your laptop.
b. if the external/attached monitor works.. very likely the problem is the lcd screen for that you need to get a replacement and you may have to contact gateway to find out about pricing (or places to send your laptop for service if you're still within warranty). if you have an old laptop you may have to considere simply replacing the unit as buying a new lcd screen may very likely be more expensive than the same working laptop.
