I have a Hitachi Ultravisio 50inch plasma TV. I was watch it when all of the sudden the screen went black. The TV did not turn off. What is the problem and can I fix it reasonably?

Appears to be a power supply issue with everything being so dead.

If you want it fixed, you'll have to take it to a real tech. If you read this garbage you'll probably end up spending more that the tv is worthed in the long run to fix it.

my Sanyo DP50747 plasma tv won't turn on. I tried plugging it up to another outlet, but still no power.

Tries unplug,replug about 1 hour later,if doesn't work,than Ur main video backlight board it dead,must replaced.

Replace digital board. Common for this set.

A plasma screen uses thousands of tiny fluorescent bulbs in different colours (red blue and green) to produce a picture. Just like standard house hold fluro lamps, these tiny bulbs use starters to turn them on and off. As there are so many bulbs in the panel and therefore starters, the panel has a number of "starter controllers". These controllers can control anywhere from a quarter up to half of the screen. If a controller dies, it takes out it's segment of the screen. Unfortunately, it sounds as if this is what has happened in the case of your LG - this is also common in NEC and Fujitsu panels. Althought these controllers can be fixed, it usually takes more time and money than it's worth- unless you have it under warranty in which case the manufacturer will just replace it. I finally got information from the repair shop. Apparently it is the upper and lower panel drive. The parts are supposedly not more than a couple hundred dollars, though I'll let you know when I get the bill. I do want to say that Hitachi was great when I called them. Even though my plasma is out of warranty by a few months, they agreed to pay for parts if I pay for labor. That just might keep me buying Hitachi products despite the issues I've had with my 2 plasmas.

Hi, the ysus board on the left side looking from the rear of the plasma has blownup, this is a very common problem with 42PD380TA, if the unit is under warranty you are lucky otherwise hitachi charge alot of mooney for service kit.

I have seen 7 hitachi plasmas in 3 months all with the same fault.
HITACHI dont accept there is a production Fault

in plasma tvs when the screen is all black the most common fix is your y-sus board. if your tv still turns on ( led in front of tv comes on) and you have all of your voltages coming from the smps board then i would get a new y-sus board.
