Any reason why my amana wall unit cycles to cooling (runs compressor, blows very cold air for 2 minutes) before heating? Does this somehow protect the cooling side of the system? If I turn up the thermostat every time it kicks on to heat I can bypass the cooling cycle. makes sitting next to it pretty uncomfortable! Thanks for your help!
The cold that you describe may be just unconditioned air? If you are certain you can hear the comp operating for a couple of minutes, and then the heat starts, I would guess it is a reversing valve issue if it's a heat pump and it probably is. Or the control board acting up. I've had a lot of issues with the boards in the Amanda PTAC units. I can't remember how to configure it, but if you Google "Amanda ptac configuration", there is a lot of info online. May try a reset method first. Hope this helps!
We did the reset on it after googling it......it does not blow cold air and periodicly the heat works when we switch it back and forth..yes it is a heat pump...Is the reversing valve replaceable?? we are having a super hard time finding anyone to work on them my family is mechanicly inclined and can change parts if that is something that can be replaced
