Because there are no channels saved in the tuner's memory. If the TV cannot see a TV signal at the antenna input, you'll get that message.

In the main settings, there should be an option for AIR or CATV, air is for non-cable and CATV is for cable tv. This has to be on the correct setting before you autoscan

My Element Tv was getting no signal so I tap my TV to try to get a signal but after that happened my TV is telling me to do Auto Channel Scan and when I do that nothing happens. I don't get any channels. It just keep repeating please do a Auto Channel Scan and i do it again and nothing happens. I have regular TV. How do I fix this?
It took me forever and online didn't help much! Finally I got it fixed. I had to push source button on tv to HDMI 1 and it fixed it.
