Question about Datamax I-4308 Thermal Label Printer

1 Answer

Printing from windows

I can't print to a Datamax printer from windows, I have a text file with the DPL for the specific label. And I have a port pointing to the printer's IP address, using a Generic Text Driver, but nothing comes out.

Any help will be appreciate it.

As i understand, DPL will works if you are using a serial comunication. When you say "using Generic Text Driver" i can see you are trying to print snce parallel port, as any other prnter. If that is the case, you can forget the DPL. Install an apropiated DATAMAX printer driver, and print from Wordpad.

You can't, on this obsolete model. zpl is "Zebra Printer Language." This model of Datamax is dpl only ("Datamax Printer Language"). Most current models of Datamax printers are dpl and zpl compatible.

Ido not have any problem if I print label using Zebra. I wrote codes on Visual Basic 6 to print label using Datamax printer conneccted parallel port with command L to start. The printer printed the text...

Do you have Zebra emulation firmware installed? If not, your printer will not understand the command language that you are sending to it. Datamax has its own language and you will need a branch in your code to support that if the printer does not work with ZPL.

Datamax I-4208 not printing allocated amount of labels

Eventually you HAVE to give the printer a break, during inventory times at work, we have to print 50K+ labels, and in order to prevent either serial number skipping or other issues, I print in 250 batches, yes; there is a time gap but it's better than to restart a series of prints because a few numbers were skipped. Try printing 200 and 200 sets to prevent errors or skips.

Image files won't print only name no image

I can help you with this. Please let me know what method you are using to send images (software, dmxconfig, dpl..) and also the type of image (bitmap, jpeg, pcx,etc..). With Datamax printers, 4 types of image can be used: bitmap, pcx, img, and 7bit datamax image file. Another thing to know is that the image must be a black & white, monochrome image. You can use a program like microsoft photo editor to make this change. You can use DmxConfig, Utilities.exe, & DPL (datamax programming language) to load image to printer. Let me know the answers to my above questions to proceed with solution.

Allegro2 Print Too Slow (25 seconds send from Windows XP)

miaharoon: Printing via Windows driver it's too long time because the driver sent a lot data to printer. Also the print speed via serial port it's slow. Inside driver, install Datamax printer fonts and barcode fonts to use it in Windows programs.
