Is there anything inside? You should not run an empty microwave. That said, it shouldn't really spark. Is there anything metallic inside? Any metal or foil can cause sparking or arcing. If you use a bowl with a pattern which has a gold or silver painted rim this can have a similar effect. If nothing like any of the above then I suggest you refer it back to where you bought it as there may be a problem with it.

It might be the appliance isn't properly grounded or it might be it is faulty or it might be there is something inside that is unsuitable.

Microwave ovens should not be operated with nothing inside and only suitable containers should be used to hold food for heating. Cups or plates with gold painted rims and metal containers and those containing metal are likely to cause a veritable electrical storm inside.

SOURCE: microwave no power

Check the internal fuse. Unplug it, unscrew and take off the cover, the fuse should be easily found in the back by the power cord. I tlooks like a regular fuse but is white instead of clear glass because microwave fuses are special. You'll have to measure it with a meter as a result and be sure to replace it with the same kind. (try finding them at radio shack) Hopefully there isn't something more serious also.

SOURCE: light bulb for Goldstar MV1526w

Your best bet is to remove the old one and match it up at the store.

You can usually find them at local appliance parts stores, home centers and home improvement stores, as well as places like Wal-Mart.

Many models use a halogen lamp. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

If you'd rather order it first, call Goldstar / LG at 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit http://www.lgservice.com.

I tried pressing and holding the STAR button for more than 5 seconds or so to unlock a goldstar microwave mv1526w but nothing happen i tried disconnecting it for over a 1 minute, try doing everything again...

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
However after you did this steps go and buy it in www.repairclinic.com

  1. Controller is confusedA power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.
  2. Defective Interlock switchesThis can result in the controller thinking the door is open and ignoring you.
  3. CleaningCleaning solutions (spray cleaner) may have gotten inside and shorted out the touchpad or controller. If this happens remove the touchpad, let it air dry for a few days, and then attach it back on the microwave.

None of the bottons work on my microwave and only the "L" for light is lit up on the display

A serial/model number would help... MV1526W? MV1604SBQ? I apologize for needing to ask, but am not that familiar with them. I would unplug the entire unit and let it rest for at least 30 seconds, and even try to push buttons while unplugged to dispel latent static electricity within the system. Then plug it in and see if you still have the problem.

I have found a website that may help, depending if they have uploaded your particular model.
