When i got the xbox from a friend it already had the problem with the red light, i'd heard about wrapping it in a blanket and letting it overheat which worked fine for a few weeks but now the red light is back and no matter how much i overheat it it won't work, it's also now not showing on the screen, i assumed this was a problem with the scart lead so bought a new lead but that hasn't worked. on occasions after overheating the console for about ten hrs it'll turn on, but the picture onscreen isnt right, it looks kind of like the scart lead isnt properly connected-dodgy colours and lines across the screen, i've checked the leads a hundred times and they're all connected properly, this problem is driving me crazy, any help would be much appreciated
This problem was a MASSIVE defect in the Xbox 360. Your graphic chip has been burned to an extent that renders it useless. "The Red Ring of Death" can only be fixed by calling Microsoft, and having your Xbox sent in. But not to worry, because of the RR of D, Microsoft issued a 3 YEAR warrenty to all Xboxs with that problem, so your covered!

your xbox is going to die..
but there is a way that you can play it.just heat up your xbox for couple of mins.then try again.it works.
every time you see E73 error just do this
for more help email me how to do. [email protected]
Turn on unit until the red light flashes and the error code(E 73) shows up on the screen. Next insert toothpicks in the back of the console(while unit is running) into the cooling fans, this is to suppose to overheat the console and start two red lights flashing. Turn off console when this happens(unplug all cords from console) and turn the system back on.
e73 is an input/output error. Hopefully you are still under warranty. Contact Microsoft at Toll free: (800) 4MY-XBOX or (800) 469-9269. If you are outside of your warranty period, I believe they will still repair it for $99
E73: General Hardware Error: Ethernet port... this error is caused by a problem with the Ethernet port. Try using a new Ethernet cord. If the error continues after the new cord is used, contact Microsoft for a repair ticket. the port will need to be replaced. (Internal connection failure)
I charge 80.00 to re-flow the G.P.U C.P.U
and reclamp the I.C. a way that will not warp the P.C-
Board . That seem to be a fair price for that type of
repair .
This is going to sound like a very strange solution, but it worked for me, twice. My xbox 360 gave me the red ring of death once, and in my despair I asked a few friends about anything they can think of, and one suggested letting it run for 10 minutes while wrapped in a towel, or blanket. By that point I was desperate enough to try it (I had bought a refurbished one, so it wasn't under warranty anymore), and lo and behold, my xbox 360 is as good as new. Basically what you're doing is shocking the system into working via overheating... I know that doesn't make much sense, but, like I said before, it worked twice for me. Hope this helps!
