Screen shuts off after two mins, tap scratch pad to restart, why?How can I stop this?

  • Wookey Nov 24, 2007

This has been happening since got the notebook. I am running XP. It seems to be only the screen, sound continues unaffected.

I have checked all the power settings and the standby settings and even set to on all the time the screen shuts off if I am not using the keyboard.

If it is just the screen shutting off and not the power, your computer is either going into standby mode or the power settings are acting up.

what operating system are you running? has this been happening since you have had the notebook, or did it just start doing this? if it just started doing this, did you install any new hardware or software (including operating system updates)?

check the bios and disable all of the power management options in there, check the xp power options and advanced power options, last but not least, check the screensaver and disable it if it is active.

Hi. I have a Hayward H350FDN pool heater that is Doing this: • Turn on and Temp at 65 • On for 3 1/2 min then shuts down • Restarts and then on for 5 min, shuts down • Restarts and then on for 2 min,...

it almost sounds like the temperature sensor is in the wrong place. that or the flow is inadequate for the heater to run. if you have a sand filter, put it on 'whirlpool' or 'recirculate' and try to run the heater.

Brakes

Hissing or scratching sound is usually related to consumed brake pads/ shoes or deformed disks.
Usually you fix it by replacing brake pads, in some case you also need to change the disk, but this is less frequent, and happens when you keep circulating with consumed brake pads for many miles.
If you have a vehicle with brake shoes instead, you need to replace and calibrate brake shoes .
