I see some older posts on this question, but not this speccific model. Can this Thermador Range/Oven Model PG486GEBS be converted to LP. Has anyone done it? Any advice?

I was told any range oven can be converted to LP. There are a regulator and a couple of other parts that need some retrofiting. Thank you in advance!

SOURCE: Kenmore Gas Range Oven not Working Properly

greg, sounds like your needle valve is not seated. Remove the bottom drawer. Look back to the base of the burner where the shutter air adjustment is. Right under there is the valve which should have a 1/2 inch or 7/16 nut. (I Forgot what size). Turn this nut clockwise until the flame is adjusted to the correct size, should be a nice blue flame. The nut maybe hard to turn because you are seating the needle. Catriver..post back

SOURCE: LP conversion for Thermador 4 burner range top

I have a Thermadore 6 burner gas cooktop PCG366E purchased January 08. I purchased the LP conversion kit, they only make one kit for all models. The instructions included with the kit were written for an older model and have not been updated by Thermador. The gas regulator is located next to gas inlet pipe. You have to get at it from above. Remove the 2 star burners over that side of the cooktop. You will need a 20mm socket to remove the nut at the center of the star burner. Lift it off and disconnect the wire to the ignitor ( You need to push on the spring lock in order to seperate the the connector terminal). Remove the stainless steel pan and then remove the metal pan underneath ( you will need a Torxs bit for this screw or vise grips). You should now see the regulator. At the top of the regulator is a cap with the letters NG visible. Twist this a 1/4 turn ccw, lift up and turn over to expose the letters LP reinsert. The regulator is now ready. You will need to replace the orifice tips at each burner. Use a 7mm socket with an extension. Put a piece of tape in the socket to hold the orifice in place while you insert it. You also need to adjust the valves. You must pull off the knobs and and remove the trim bezel. If you look through the screw hole on the right you will see a screw head (bypass screw). Insert long skinny flat blade screwdriver through the hole and turn the screw CW all the way (about 1/4 to 1/2 turn in my case). My cooktop had two burners with a low simmer feature, This devise is located in front of the bypass screw. It has a hole in it but does not align well with the head of the bypass screw and makes it difficult to turn the scew. Thats it, I hope this info has been helpful. I have not yet connected the propane therefore have not tested the unit but it should work.

Changed maxitrol regulator to lp to much pressure

If you only changed the gas regulator for use with LP (the regulator located at the connection of the gas service) then you still need to change the orifices for all burners, top and oven. Of course I assume this model can be converted for use with LP. Some models cannot. A new range that can be converted for LP typically includes the needed LP orifices. A card with the LP orifices is typically located at the gas regulator.

What is the product # for the conversion kit from nat gas to lp? who carries this item? Does the conversion kit come with a regulator?

Some Thermador ranges are not field convertable from natural gas to LP. The PRG364EDG falls in this category. If you have one that is not convertiable; you will need a different range.

The PG364GEBS is not a listed unit at Thermador; I've found it for sale at AJ Madison. Since that vendor doesn't list the conversion kit (and they sell ones for other Thermador ranges), I do not believe this is a field convertible unit.

Thermador has manuals and installation guides for many of their appliances here: http://www.thermador.com/trade/specifications-guides . Most Thermador ranges come with the installation guide, as well as the owner's guide, if you still have your documentation. Otherwise, try the Thermador site for the documentation (check if the company uses a different part number internally). If the conversion kit is available, the part number will be provided in the section on the Gas Requirements and Hookup. If it isn't, the installation guide will clearly state that fact.

Other models are convertible. The PRD304GHU uses the conversion unit: PALPKITHC. You will need to confirm your model since the number of orifices will depend on the number of burners and the low simmer feature. (The PRD304GHU is also a 4 burner with 2 of them extra-low simmer burners model.)

For units that are convertible, you can usually order the part through the same stores that sell the appliance. Alternatively, have your gas service installer order the parts. The installation guide for the conversion kit will be included in the kit. For most ranges that are field convertable, the regulator converts from natural gas to LP by rotating a cap in the regulator by 180 degrees. (Take out the part, turn it over so that LP shows and reinstall.)

I hope this helps and I wiish that I had better news for you.

Oven and broiler will not stay on.lights blink

The cooling fans under the cook top must blow to close fan sail switches. fans stop , oven shuts down. You may have a problem with your main controler board. Shut off yor breaker to range for at least 20min. retry, if it still does same thing your main board is NG. Its burried under the right side burrners.
I recomend calling thermador for service tech. Its not a do it your self thing.

Oven won't stay alight . has never worked from new . have checked all thermocouple connections all seem's well. probe is tight and in correct position.

To post a more specific solution you need to have the model number, but with the info you have given, I'm guessing that you have hooked the range up to LP gas and the range was not fully converted from natural to LP. If all burners burn nice, whomever converted the range may have missed one step. Many ranges with pilot lights have a small slot head screw behind the oven temp set knob which turns one way for natural, one way for LP.
