CONTROL BOARD? My maytag will not spin and the door will not lock! I THINK IT MIGHT BE THE CONTROL BOARD. ARE THEY HARD TO DO THE WORK MYSELF? THANKS!

E41 error indicates that the problem is with door lock assembly, it is displayed when the control board thinks that the door switch is open. To solve this problem you have to remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTC. If it reads open then the door lock assembly needs replacement however, if the reading is around 1500 ohms then replacing the control board is recommended repair. The control board is expensive, so instead of buying the whole control board, if you're good in electronic repair and soldering, try checking ebay for the control board repair kit. Search for "MAYTAG NEPTUNE WASHER R11 Q6 REPAIR KIT". It has all instructions how to do the repair. Good luck!

check to see if the door locked is lit up and the door is locked. if it is not locking it won't spin full speed. the last one I had needed a wax motor to lock it and a new control board since the wax motor shorted out the control board

On page 3-1 the manual explains that if the washer shuts off during the spin cycle, the problem points to a weak spring in the door lock mechanism.

"Shuts OFF In The Middle Of The Spin Cycle:
During the spin cycle, the machine control
monitors the door lock mechanism to ensure
the door is locked. This is done through the
door lock enable switch. During "lock mode,"
the shaft of the door lock mechanism is
pressed forward by the door lock wax motor,
and the shaft presses in the button of the door
lock enable switch. If the machine control
board sees the switch OPEN during the spin
cycle, the machine control board will automatically
shut the washer OFF. This is caused
by a weak spring in the door lock wax motor.
Replace the complete door lock mechanism.

replace the door lock assembly along with the expensive machine control board ther r 11 resistor is probly burned out you can see it when you inspect the machine control board

If you remove the motor control board, you will probably see burnt spot on the board.Board and motor need to be replaced, pretty expensive repair.

Removing the top cover of the dryer, you will find, in the front right, the machine electronic control board with a burned resistor. This resistor burns up when the washer lock motor fails. The lock motor and control board will need replacing. Parts cost will be around $220.00.

Could be just about anything. It's all designed to prevent it from spinning if there is a problem. If the motor is still turning, but never gets up to spin speed, check the out of balance circuit. There are two cabinet strike switches and an inertial unbalance switch. Or check the door latch assembly, it's possible for the door to lock enough to turn the 'door lock' light on, but not move far enough to actuate the 'spin enable' switch. Maytag has upgraded the motor/ motor control board for the older Neptunes. If the motor is not running at all, check that the main control board is sending power to the motor control board. If it is you need the motor/ motor control kit (just one part #) If the main board is not sending power to the motor control board, you need a main control board, but you still need to test the motor control board. Take a test cord and put 120 volts to the motor control board, the motor should start turning at 50 rpm (normal agitate speed) if it doesn't you would need the motor/ motor control kit as well.

lets start with the basics, Door lock indicator coming on?? is door actually locking?? if not, i would lean toward the top board AS WELL as wax motor and door switch,.. assuming all lights are functioning correctly then head toward lower Motor control board. depending on age of machine, you would replace both motor and control board as a kit.NEPTUNE REPAIR KIT (very rarly an issue with motor)..next would be a possible out-of-balance swithc located around the tub(if one of them faults out then the tub will not spin either. theres 3 things i check, and when in doubt i call the maytag techline for further help troubleshooting. As long as servicer is a maytag autherized repair co. he can call as well
