YES ! This is usually ok, the speaker cabinet should contain a high pass filter or crossover on the tweeter to decouple it from the low frequency signals. My Linn Index speakers are wired like this.

in order to make those speakers sound good (if they can sound good at all) you need to use equalizer box witch came with them. If your receiver does not have tape monitor loop or preamp to amp jumpers you can not use those speakers. To be honest you do not loose much... none of this stuff is any good (sorry for bad news), but if you like those speakers (I know they have big fans, even if in HI-FI world, they not consider as good) you have to change you receiver. "[A] set of Sony Speakers" is meaningless. What model(s)? If they're part of an all-in-one system they may not be suitable for the JVC.

Manuals exist for everything. Read them.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/JVC-RX-5052S-Receivers-manual/id/315ci175/t/2/

This receiver is designed for standard commonly available 8-ohm (nominal) speakers that connect with common stripped end lamp cord or speaker wire.

[email protected] have a jvc rx-809v and I was wondering if it was posibbie to hook up an a sansui amp to compinsate for the lack of base

You mean 'bass'.

Amplifiers only amplify what is already there in the signal. By design, with all controls set to neutral or flat, they don't create or loose anything.

Speakers, on the other hand, are responsible for turning the electrical input into moving air. Good bass usually requires moving a lot of air.

Poor speaker placement or speakers wired out of phase with each other can **** the bass out of a room.

Web search for articles on bass response and speaker placement.

This receiver has a built-in Equalizer. Perhaps you could use IT to compensate for the tonal shortcomings of the speakers and environment.

Hello, I have a Sherwood RX-5502 and currently have a pair of 8Ohm speakers hooked up to the SPEAKER A terminals. Can I hook up a pair of 4Ohm speakers to the SPEAKER B terminals without issue from...

The statement on page 7 might allow enough wiggle room for a single pair of 4-ohm speakers used alone. Procede with caution and don't try to blow the walls down with them. Monitor for excessive heat or strain and if it clips or self-protects back off.

I have my jvc rx-778v that always overloads. why is that?

There could be a couple of reasons that its overloading one is make sure that there is no bare wire touching at all.The other thing it could be is the ohms rating over your speakers may be to low for you receiver. Most receiver can handle 8 ohms to 6 ohms there are a few that can handle 4 ohms check your speaker ohms rating then check how low your receiver can handle with out going into overload.

If you can via experimentation confirm that your amps are ok then the issue lies with the Dolby IC chip that controls the various sound modes. It went on my Pioneer and I had hassles getting the various speakers to work properly under different sound modes. Replacement, not cheap, cured my issue.

Rear speakers are dead, never got them to work. Changed front to back and rears work so speakers and wireing are good. Is it possible that because I did not hook up a center speaker this is the problem?

if its a 5.1 channels it means 2 front speakers,2 rear speakers or either the center speaker or the subwoofer.try to hook up either center speaker or subwoofer.

How to add a subwoofer?

Car systems and home systems are different in the fact that the car system expects to receive 12 volts DC for power, and they are usually 8 ohm speakers. I would not recommend doing this unless you are in the mood for some serious config. Power converter from 110 AC-12v DC and big enough to handle the amperage. If it's not powered, then your going to be running a 4 ohm speaker on an 8 ohm amp output. Again, not recommended.

Hi...
Without a huge mess, I would suggest one of the multi-speaker selectors that partsexpress.com sells or a similar item.
Just put "speaker slector" in their search engine.

If youre going to 8 other rooms..you might try a couple of wireless speaker systems too. They work in stereo and ....no wires
