Please would you help me. My friend has a compaq presario M2000 PC notebook which is 2 years old. It has not had much use and never been misused. It was on a table working successfully. Switched off. Switched on again some time later. The power button illuminated the caps and number lock lights flashed on as usual and the fan switched on momentarily and then went off. No noises were made. The screen remained black. This fault is repeated at every attempt to boot up. Nothing is plugged into the computer. The fault occurs whether the battery is used or removed and the power pack is used. Removing and reinserting the RAM has made no difference. We have downloaded the service manual from HP and have completely exposed the mother board so feel ready to fix the problem if we only knew what it was. Could any one help us please Many thanks Juliet.
It stll could be a moniter issue since the computer is not running any programs it is not heating up therefor it dosnt require a fan my compaq m2000 is doing the same thing try plugging your computer in to a desktop moniter and see what happens you might find that it still works,if you have tried that allready then sorry thats all i have. thanks

Have you tried removing the battery, and disconnecting the power adapter. If you have not tried that please try that.
1. Once you have removed both.
2. Power up computer with just power adapter connected and no battery.
3. If the computer powers up shut computer back down
4. Put battery back in and leave power connected
If that does not fix the issue. The back light has possibly gone out on the computer. Depending on how old the computer is.
1. Either contact the manufacturer of the computer
2. Take computer to a repair shop
3. Consider purchasing a new computer
check your memory card(s) you may have a bad on or two, and if that doesn't work then sounds like the mother board has become defective and needs replacing, but the ram Memory would be the cheeper fix first.
Check for blocked air passages - vacuum out the fan ports. (Don't use canned air - you'll just blow the dust inside, where it will act as an insulator and help things overheat.) Make sure the fans are actually turning. If there's any mold growing inside, that could cause the problem too.And for more contact http://tinyurl.com/m7ghqz
