This sounds like a seat micro switch problem, make sure the block connecter is fully home and the switch depresses when you sit in the seat, if all else fails replace the switch
I have same problem with my lx188 battery light stays on and will run fine at idle, then I can mow for about 15mins then it powers down and run rough, and battery light dims down. ???? Is it the voltage regulator ?
Check the brown wire feeding your voltage regulator, its between batt and steering wheel behind left side of frame.LX100 series machines had a problem with brown wire not fully contacting terminal in regulator. You will know you had bad contact if plastic is discolored.
