One of the gas rings on my Smeg cooker lights with the igniter and stays alight while the knob is pushed in but goes out when the knob is released. All other rings work fine. Any ideas ?

problem with hob is probably water ingress in area of ignition unit - will probably cure itself oven is a completely separate unit from hob. problem with it is that you have to re-set the clock - you have it on automatic. after power outage, oven clock always has to be reset

SOURCE: Nexgrill patio heater won't stay lit

I called Nexgrill technical support at 1-800-913-8999. They are sending me a new thermo couple to keep the valve open when ignited - so the patio heater will stay on. I needed to give them the serial number (inside the propane tank door) and fax them a copy of the receipt.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Pilot light won't stay alight,

hello!! if you changed the thermocouple & the pilot still goes out !! could be a thermostat ( the electromagnet pilot safety ) goes bad !! make sure pilot is clean & should be sharp BLUE pilot !! not yellow & soft !! also hold down the button light the pilot use a digital volt meter set on dc milivolts a brand new thermocouple should test @ 30 milivolts+ - ! & if you have new style water htr with sealed combustion the thermocouple has a safety part of it ! change the thermocouple & make sure your vents for combustion air around the bottom of the water htr has lint & dust built up !!! kiddbrother i work for a gas company doing service !!

SOURCE: The oven on my gas cooker will light but wont stay lit

Thermo coupling needs changing, unless you are Gas Safe, let someone else repair for you, its a common problem, shouldn't cost much, good luck , the Yeti

How to fix problems with hob not staying alight on rangemaster lpg

If you are holding the knob in for a good few seconds and finding that it still goes out, the thermocouple has failed on that hob. The thermocouple is the metal spike sticking up when you take the ceramic plate and carrier off each ring. First check that the ring pieces are correctly sitting on the cooker, but if they are you will need that thermocouple replacing.

The grill on my Hotpoint hug 52 will not stay alight

For anyone experiencing this issue, grill won't stay alight or it does but goes out after few seconds or minutes and won't stay running. this item is so overlooked however check the FSD is actually in the flame and getting hot, check your flame is consistent the same size burn across all the burner and if you changed the FSD and checked its all in order then its the grill door micro switch. yes there is a small microswitch that cuts off the circuit to the FSD and shuts gas off if the door is closed. This microswitch goes bad from the heat and causes the issue.

I have a Smeg Range cooker A1 (electric oven, 6 ring gas hob). I have the following problem with just one of the rings - it sparks and the gas lights normally, but when I eventually let go of the knob...

It could sometimes be a thermocouple that is not properly mounted against the flame or is just defective, these thermocouples are mounted for safety because it would not be good if gas flows out of gas for a long time without flame in professional gas equipment, the gas flow is often Many times higher, by the way a nice device and good brand.
I think the damage is very common here. By hand, you might also be able to take it yourself if there is technical knowledge and with the proper attention on gas sealing. look a few examples of your problem from of the link about this.
