Turn off the switch at the back of your ps3. Turn it back on. hold down the power button for about 5 seconds until the ps3 will turn on and then off automatically. let go and then press and hold the power button again. it will beep once, then twice. Once it beeps twice let the button go. ps3 will show a new menu. Choose option 3 to restore file system. Your ps3 might do the restore twice in a row and then it will work. None of your files will be deleted.
Do you recieve an error message on screen when that happens? Turn your system to standby mode (red light on the console) and press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps then let go. This will reset the system to factory defaults. If that does not work call Sony customer support.
YOU PROBABLY HAVE A CORRUPTED FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD.....YOU WILL NEED TO RESET THE PS3 BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT THROUGHT THE PS3 SETTINGS...BEAWARE YOU MAY LOOSE DOWNLOADED CONTENT ON THE HARDRIVE
