The wrist strap has a thin loop on one end. Thread this thin section (like threading a needle) through the strap hole. (It's on the left side of the camera. There are two openings with a bar over the top of the center of them at the bottom corner of the camera body.) Start threading from the middle of the body of the camera and push the strap towards the bottom of the unit. You may need to twist the loop to narrow it and keep it tight. Once you have this narrow loop through the camera, open up the loop and slide the thick material through the center of this thin loop. Pull the wrist strap until the thin loop tightens around the bar.

This is shown on page 12 of the D30 manual. The manual is available from Canon support on the Powershot page: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0300013985/02/psd30-cu2-en.pdf. The direct link to the manual is http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0300013985/02/psd30-cu2-en.pdf .

I hope this helps.

(Many lanyard straps for electronic gear work the same way. Threading the narrow section under that bar does require decent near point vision. People who are far-sighted may need to wear bifocals or ask someone younger to assist.)

I dropped my canon powershot SD 4500 IS and now it won't turn on! It's survived countless other falls just fine, and would turn on immediately then. All times, including this time, have been when...

Really!....you've dropped your camera "countless" other times and now you're concerned because this time, it won't turn on!!! You're not sure what else to do?!!! How about not dropping your camera. How about using the wrist strap. Your dropping luck has run out...your camera does not have nine lives.

I cannot attach the wrist strap Duh!

I'm not sure what problem is that you are having with the wrist strap, but on my Canon camera, I just thread the small loop end of the wrist strap through the plastic loop on the camera and then pull the other end of the strap through the small loop end. It is very hard to explain in words, but you can watch this video to get the idea:

The auto focus will not work on my EOS 400D lense. ,I dropped the camera. The tele-scope lense works fine. I cleaned the contacts as suggested with swab & alcohol

You can take your camera/lens to a repair shop for a possible repair, however, this sort of repair, if it can be done may be pricey. I am sorry to tell you that cameras have a healthy sized strap and padded cases for a this reason. They are very easy to damage. You might try calling ahead to check with them. What happens when you try to use autofocus?

Need to repair wrist strap attachment on ixus 960

First things first, the small piece that holds the strap, when broken is repairable, but it is best that you dont since there is a strong possibility that the line will give up. the best options you may have to look for are camera pouches that are designed for the camera.

I have a Canon SD750 Elph, I can't connect the cord to the camera to download the pictures to my computer. Where is the connector??

As you're looking at the back of the camera, there is a small door along the upper right outside edge, which opens to reveal the digital connector jack and an audio/video jack. It is just above the metal loop where you attach the wrist strap.

Mirror stays up

Check first if there is/not a Mirror lock Some makes have it. Failing that it seems there is a mirror mechanism fault. Establish exactly what you think it is and then onto Canon Tech Support team for their help you may need to return it to Canon.
