I might sound stupid but Double check that you`ve connected the correct connectors as in All Inputs plugs being used or All outputs plugs being used. If you have one of these leads with 6 connectors on one lead, (Audio Input L+R, Video Input, Audio Output L+R, Video Output) You need to make sure that if you get sound from the audio input plugs, then you must use the video input plug and vice verse. Connectding audio/video cables when you have a cable box and sound bar with dvd player

How To Connect a DVD Recorder to a Television:
1.If you want to use higher quality cables, then you may want to connect the TV Source (Cable and Satellite only, not Antenna) to the DVD Recorder using Composite, S-Video or Component video and audio cables.
2.To use composite cables (also known as RCA, the yellow plug is video, the red and white plugs, audio): Plug in the composite cables to the RCA outputs on the back of your TV source and then plug in the composite cables to the RCA inputs of the DVD Recorder. Then connect the RCA outputs from the DVD Recorder to RCA inputs on the TV.
3.To use S-Video and RCA audio cables: Plug in the S-Video cable to the S-Video output of the TV source. Plug in the S-Video cable to the S-Video input on the DVD Recorder. Next, connect the RCA audio cable to the output on the TV source and the input on the DVD Recorder. Finally, connect the S-Video cable and the RCA audio cable to the output on the DVD Recorder and the input on the TV.
5. To use Component Video cables and RCA audio cables: Connect the Component Video cable and the red and white RCA audio cables to the outputs on the TV source and the inputs on the DVD Recorder. Next, connect the Component Video cable and RCA audio cable to the outputs on the DVD Recorder and the inputs on the TV.
6. Now that the TV source (either Cable, Satellite or Antenna), the DVD Recorder and the TV are all connected, you need to configure everything to make sure that TV is coming through the DVD Recorder, for recording and viewing.
7. Turn on the Cable Box or Satellite Receiver, TV and DVD Recorder.
8. If you connected everything using the RF connections then the TV should be passing through the DVD Recorder and displaying Television on the TV screen. To record in this mode, you would need to tune to either channel 3 or 4 on the TV and then use the DVD Recorder TV Tuner to change channels and record.
9. If you made connections using either Composite, S-Video or Component cables, then to view or record TV, two adjustments need to be made. First, the DVD Recorder needs to be tuned to the appropriate input, typically L1 or L3 for rear inputs and L2 for front inputs. Second, the TV also must be tuned to the proper input, on a TV usually Video 1 or Video 2.
10. If you have a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound A/V Receiver you can connect either a Digital Optical Audio cable or Coaxial Digital Audio cable from the DVD Recorder to the receiver to listen to audio through the receiver.

How can I connect my dvd player to a Philips 32PFL5605H/05 32-inch Widescreen Full HD LED TV ? It is of the type which has one red, one yellow, and one white connector but i do not see any sockets that...

The included cable with the red, yellow and white RCA connectors is a composite A/V cable. To connect this cable to the TV, you need a SCART-cinch adapter. Then use one of the SCART connections on the TV. Note: the SCART connection does not handle HD signal.

You will get a much better picture if you buy a different cable. Depending on your DVD player, get either an HDMI cable or a pair of cables - a component video and audio cable. (Both component and the audio cable will have RCA plugs at each end. The component video has 3 plugs - red, blue and green. The audio will have 2 plugs - white and red.) Both of these will carry HD signals. Most DVD players will have at least component video and composite video jacks; some have the HDMI output. Most DVD/VCR combinations will need the composite video for the VCR and the component video is optional for the DVD signal.

I hope this helps.

DVD player Model AD-1000. No video using composite video (3 Py connections) but do get audio. Video and Audio work using component video

When using Component Video you MUST use AV for the Audio in ALL circumstances. Connecting this up will be easy. What you do is get a yourself a set of the right, for your setup, cables. That uses EITHER one of the formats, of these described, below. You will need, either, a THREE way Cable, or three separate " Coaxial Cored" Cables with RCA PLUGS on them. ColoredYellow, (Video) Red, & White. (Audio) AV. OR If you have SCARTConnection Sockets, it's a big Black Socket at rear of unit(s), you get aSCART Cable.& It's all inside. Now some units, use a standard calledComponent Video, that uses, a Green, Red, & Blue Plugs. Now, with the Component setup, you will also ,need, Two more Cables, for the AV Audio. these are, Red & White.(So with Component Video there are 5 Cables/Plugs in all). In any event ALL Cables go Color to Color, at each end, plugging into the corresponding Colored RCA Jacks, on either machine, or VCR or TV. Now if you have SCART, then it simply plugs in only one way. It is that simple. So connect up with the leads your set uses, and select the correct "Input" from TV/Remote, it is NOT on a "Channel" it will be on AV, AUX, and Press "Play" on VCR/DVD whatever.... should be all go.

Sharp vc-a422

This is easy in a nutshell. from the cablebox into the VCR RF connection (ant in) then from the VCR RF into the TV RF in. The from the DVD composite video out and audio out into the VCR composite video in and audio in. This make the VCR the hub of your setup the VCR should be set to channel 3 and you can switch between the VCR and the DVD by using the VCR remote. Now for the cords: 1) Cable to VCR RF = Coaxial 2) Composite Video and audio out = RCA patch cable 3)Composite Video and audio in = RCA patch cable That is it. If your TV can support multiple inputs then use it as the hub. Cable Box to VCR RF (Coax cable) VCR to TV RF(coaxial cable) or VCR to TV Composite video, or TV Component Video (RCA Cable) DVD Player to Composite video, or TV Component Vido (RCA Cable), or Svideo (Svideo cable)
