My ice maker is not despensing ice, but water works. It is a GE Monogram refridg. Water works, but when you change to ice, nothing happens. when it was acting up, all it would do is dispense crushed ice, even when cubed was selected. Have replaced the seliniod, but did not work. Any one out there have the same issue??

Just because you get water from the dispenser does not mean you should also get ice made in the ice maker. Fact is there are two side to the water control valve. One for the ice maker and the other for the water dispenser. Is there ice remaining inside the ice maker slots? If not then pour water into the tray until full and if after the water freezes it drops the ice into the ice bin this will indicate a defective=> WR57X10032 Water Inlet Valve If nothing happens and the ice maker tray are full of ice this will indicate a defective=> WR30X10093 Ice Maker Assembly The ice maker is cannot be rebuilt on this model. Put 2 cups of water into the maker.

The ice maker unit give the command to the water valve to relese water for a short time.
you cna check with volt meter on the water volve that got the pip go to the ice maker unit if it getting 120V for short time when the fingers of the ice maker making full round.
if you get 120v the problem is the valve (the ice maker and the water have difrent water path so its difrent valve used) if you dont get 120v or the fingers of the ice maker not turning then its your ice maker unit need to be replace.

there is a pump to the water and the ice unit so you need to change the one for the water.

Sounds like your diagnosis is right on. In extremely rare cases the ice maker itself could be at fault. But once again is extremely rare.

There are two solenoid valves in the rear of the refrigerator. One that controls water for ice and one that controls water for door dispenser. If the water is not coming through when the button is pushed then have the proper solenoid valve replaced and enjoy. Hope this helps. good luck.

The same thing has happened to us with the ice. We just unplugged the ice maker for a few seconds then plugged back in. that seemed to work. hasnt happened in a while.

i would first check water supply to ref. measure the resistance of coil either open or resistance. if all this is ok then exit side of line needs to be checked for water.

Sounds like the icemaker mold is leaking so the whole icemaker should be replaced.  Leaking water will get on the icemaker heater and cause condensation which then freezes and makes frost.
