If your DC44's brush bar won't rotate, it sounds like we may need to talk you though some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine fully charged and easily to hand. This will help us determine if there's an issue with the motorised floor tool itself, or with the wand or main body.
If a replacement part is needed, we should also be able to confirm whether this is covered under our free 2-year parts and labour guarantee.
When convenient, please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

You may want to take the battery to a Batteries Plus or such - sometimes a battery will show voltage just fine, but choke once there's a load on it. They have the gear to tell (same as with car batteries)
Like most Dyson upright vacuums, DC65's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions and removed any threads or hair from the brush bar, you should be able to reset your machine as shown in the video:
There's no physical reset button - the reset mechanism is built into the main on/off and brush control switches. Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when your machine is standing upright, so recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your new DC44 - the motorised heads should definitely not be rotating when attached to the vacuum for storage. They should only rotate when you're holding down the on/off trigger and using the vacuum for cleaning.
I'm confident we can resolve this for you, and as your machine is so new it should be well within our free 2-year parts and labour cordless guarantee. Please email me directly at [email protected] so I can take some further details.
The video I've attached should also help you check for and remove any threads, hair or debris caught around the brush bar.
If you'd like further help after you've given this a try, please get in touch with us directly so our experts can talk you through some additional troubleshooting checks. You can reach the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1800 239 766 (AU).
Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your DC44 Animal. It's normal for air to blow out of the back of the machine - this is where the exhaust air is returned to the room after passing through the cyclone pack. However, if your machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual and you've recently washed the filter, this may be due to a blockage. To check the motorised carbon fibre floor tool, wand and bin inlet for any obstructions, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc44/dc44-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual-dc44/no-resolved-redirect-to-check-the-wand/check-wand The motorised carbon fibre floor tool is driven by it's own motor, rather than the machine's airflow. If it isn't rotating, the video attached should help you locate anything which could be jamming the brush bar. Make sure you remove any threads or hair from around the brush bar carefully using scissors, taking care to avoid causing any damage to the bristles. I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like some further help you can reach the Dyson customer Helpline directly by calling us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).
