It would help to know what kind of computer you have, but the odds are good it's a green socket on the back of you computer.

SOURCE: Broken right speaker

Dear Bethann240
It is very difficult to rewire the right speaker( the one with the controls). The black cable contains an orange and black pair which drive the "big" speaker in the base. The white wire has the wires for the controls. That white wire is .090 in in dia. Peel back the white pvc insulation and you will find a layer of aluminum foil which is intended to shield the control wires. Then there is another layer of insulation. Peel that insulation back and you find SIX color coded lacquer insulated wires. Each wire is .010 in in dia. If you attempt to solder the severed wires together you will doubtlessly melt the lacquer and short the cable out. Twisting the wires together without removing the lacquer won't work. The satellite speakers were intended to be non-repairable, thats why the case is glued together.

The best bet is throw the right speaker in the trash and try to purchase a replacement from Altec or find a replacement in a flea market etc.

SOURCE: how do i hook up speakers to my lcd?

go to Radio Shack or whoever is closest for audio cables, ask for a mini-stereo jack to RCA male jack, it should look like a Y with the stereo mini female jack on one end and two (one red one black or white) old style speaker jacks. These should take care of the audio situation. It might be better to consider adding a tuner or media center to help direct the sound.

SOURCE: the speakers are plugged into the jack on the back

Check that your plug is completely inserted. Normally the Left Channel works, as it is the channel on the end of the plug. If the plug is only partially plugged in, it will connect to the right channel signal from the computer.

No sound from built in speakers

Use a paper clip as a hook to pull the end of the headphone socket to the front, to contact the speakers when headphone is not plugged in. Paper clip of 1 inch size has to be straightened out. One end bent at 1 inch for a lever. The other end bend 1/16" for a hook to pull the end contact. Cut that end to a chisel to use as wedge for side contacts pull to the center. You also need a bright LED flash light to see all the parts in the socket.

Hook your green and orange wires off the speakers into green and orange inputs on the back of your tower. Hook the round black cable off the a/c adaptor plug into the black input on the back of the right speaker. Then plug into an outlet. There is no software for these speakers.

My Right port isnt working and i have no idea about these knds of things

The way computer speakers are hooked up, is you take your 1/4" main jack from the power speaker, and plug it in to your computer's adio out jack. Then you have to hook up the other speaker's 1/4" plug to a jack in the back of the power speaker (by power speaker, I mean the speaker that has the volume adjustment and on/off switch). Plug the power speaker's power supply in to the wall outlet, turn it on, adj the volume, and you should be in business. If the other speaker isn't working, it might have a pinched speaker wire or another problem may exist, but usually it's either a pinched wire or incorrect hookup.
Oh, one more thing to check, make sure you hook the other speaker to the right jack on the power speaker. There are two jacks on the power speaker, and one is for the left or right speaker only. Good luck, and hope this helps.

No sound

Make sure the speaker are plugged into the "audio out" ports. Black negative, red positive.
If a dvd players or other system is hooked up, the speaker should hook into that unit, then the unit is hooked to the auxiliary port(s), or the proper ports for each unit: ex: cd/dvd should be plugged into vd/dvd; same for vcr, game system - auxiliary is for pretty much any unit not listed on the backing of the receive - however, some units will still work while plugged into the ports other than auxiliary.
Make sure the receive is selected to the desired device.
If you simply have the speakers plugged into the speaker ports, make sure the speaker themselves are still good - try hooking them up to another source such as a a dvd player equipped with surround sound or speaker adapters that will suffice your speaker wiring.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Speakers have no sound coming from them.

There is not fuse for the speakers themselves. The speakers maybe blown out. I would take a speaker out and connect it to the home stereo and see if it works. I would check to see if the speakers are plugged in also.

Only one speaker works - altec lansing computer speakers ADA215

The solution is actually quite simple, due to a design flaw. Altec lansing designed a rather cheap mini din plug-in which can either be replaced or repaired depending on your skill and patience level. Your ground contact is fine BUT the positive contact is not making connection due to the fact that the plastic housing has broken away and pulled the contact with it. This can be super glued back into place or just replaced with a new mono minidin plug-in.

How to hook up Philips mms 321 to a laptop via usb

I don't know of any interface that goes from speaker wires to USB. I think that we should go another way. You know soundblaster has many cards that will let you hook those speakers right up and its a very easy installation. I myself have Bose speakers hooked up to my soundblaster card and its wonderful. You can peruse the soundblaster cards here.
Its really easy to do and it will allow you to have great sound that you can configure for very high quality stereo.

I hope this helps. please remember to rate me.
