Make sure the door is closing properly, that nothing is trapped in the door seal, and that the seal isn't torn or distorted. The seals are there to stop moist external air getting in then dropping its load of moisture as it cools. A.

SOURCE: error message on fridge "er ff"
Error code Er FF indicates that the evaporator fan has failed, or at least is not sending a signal to the electronic controls. Open the door and see if the evaporator fan is running inside the freezer compartment. If that fan stops, then no cold air will be sent to the refrigerator compartment and it will warm up. Possible causes include bad motor, bad connection, bad electronics.

Er means that somthing is wrong. It could be a temperature problem that caused it. Does it beep at all. That is a alarm for the door being open. You may need to check the magnet on the door and the reed switch on the wall. Upper left for the top drawer. and on the bottom is on the grill and door. Normally this is something I would ask for a tech to look at. But if you feel confident to try this I can get you into the program to see what its telling us. Now hold the up arrow and at the same time press and release the light bulb 3 times. Then release the up arrow last. If you did this right then you will have a 0 on the display. Yes, Then up arrow until you get to 3. Then press and release, It should give you a number. E# ? Let me know what this is. You may have a couple so write down all of them.
Now after you got the number then just push up arrow until you get to 99 then press and release the light bulb to go back to the refrigeration cycle.
E3= bottom drawer open to long
E10= Top drawer open
E1 = Thermistor #1 open
E5 = 10 degrees to warm E6 = 10 degrees too cold E7= Thermistor 2 E8=Thermistor 3 E9 =Thermistor 4 open thermistor 1 located top drawer Thermistor#2 I/M or evap if no icemaker
Thermistor3 is located in freezer or base if no freezer thermistor 4 is drain pan

SOURCE: MY ICE MAKER WON'T WORK
This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor.
If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code.
Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.

The ER IF code indicates a failure of the icing fan.
You may notice slower ice production but the other fans should be okay.
You can select the ultra ice option and see if the fan toggles on.
The fan or the control is bad.

The problem is most likely either the defrost timer, and/or the defrost heater element(s) are faulty. The problem is that the defrost heater elements are not functioning properly and the evaporator core is actually freezing up and blocking the air flow through the evaporator core and also freezing up the thermal sensor, and when that happens there is no longer enough cold air being circulated through the refrigerator (that is actually how the unit operates and air must be able to flow through the evaporator core and then be circulated throughout the refrigerator to properly function) and as a result the refrigerator stops functioning and food can even thaw out in the freezer although the freezer seems to be iced up. (Usually at the rear wall where the evaporator core is located)
(Air flow through the evaporator core and cold air circulation and re-circulation through the refrigerator is performed by the air circulation fan and it also must be functioning)
Be sure to only use a blow dryer (with a towel on the bottom of the freezer) to thaw out the evaporator core and do not use any hard or sharp objects or the evaporator core can be damaged. The defrost timer can be located inside of the refrigerator itself, (see lower image) or it can be mounted outside usually either behind the air intake cowl or kick panel at the front base of the refrigerator, or most likely located behind the service panel on the rear of the refrigerator, and usually if the defrost timer is turning then it is most likely working, however the defrost timer can move very slowly and you can place a mark on the timer and the housing to check after about fifteen minutes to see if the position on the defrost timer has changed. The deforst timer on newer digital models can be built into the circuit board and is not a seperate timer mechanism.

drawer. I had the same problem with an LG refrigerator in November 2008 that was fixed under warranty. (There is a Kenmore model that is made by LG.) They replaced the fan and housing, and the panel duct assembly (both because a design revision provided a way to drain the water that was freezing the fan), and the main controller board (presumably because there was a new defrost program, but also because of the Energy Star settlement.) If your refrigerator is out of warranty, you can remove the freezer drawer to get at the panel behind it. Remove and defrost the fan housing. Drill some small holes in the bottom of the fan housing for drainage. Put it back together and see if that solves the problem.
