How do I hook up an indoor antenna to my Sanyo TV

There is a threaded connector marked cable/antenna. You use this connection to attach the antenna cable. Then you do a channel scan with the tuner set to antenna not cable.

HDMI input works ok. Hooked up external antenna. Did channel scan. It will only scan for analog channels. Has analog raster on screen. It has no information on menu page for digital channel scan.

do you have the air option in the scan menu see
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sanyo/dp42841.html
page 9 important fact cable digital gets wiped by air digital channels

You may be able to get around this via a digital hd tv decoder box and then have it on a hdmi input on the TV as a backup to the cable if you can't have both cable digital channels stored and aerial digital channels stored

Trying to hook up a digital antenna but no channels coming in

You need to get a connection from a local cable or wireless service with a set top box to be connected to the input. Please check with your local operator and see if the set top box is needed for the digital feed.
Otherwise you might need a dish with the LNB to be used to the TV. Digital tuner means that the tuner is working to scan and memorising the full band width of the channels with digital processing and thus faster and crisp.
Check the details of the TV from a forum:

Changing to antenna

Firstly, depending which reception area you are in, an indoor antenna may not give you a good signal across all your channels. If in you put the antenna into the aerial connector of the TV & if in your set up menu, there is an Auto tune option then enter this & it will tune in all the channels it can find. If not then select the Manual tune option & you will need to tune each channel as you find them. Follow the on screen instructions as a guide.

Hitatchi 42HDF52 only receives channel 5 and 6 on analog RF input

If you have tried autoprogramming and have found nothing it may be a bad tuner. Is your VCR is hooked up via coax or into a video input? If it is hooked up via video and is working but the coax connection direct isnt it will be a bad TV tuner. Easiest cheapest fix is to use you VCR to change channels or get a Digital Cable Terminal from you cable provider and hook it into video or compnent.

When we try to do a channel scan, the screen says no channels picked up as it goes from 0-100% scan...this happens on manual and automatic scan

On antenna mode change to cable w/ cable direct to t.v.If aconverter box is hooked up to t.v it wont read channels.

Get HD Signals but it Says Channels not available

you might have to look for "hidden" hd channels.

most cable companies are broadcasting the local stations unencrypted, so you should be able to receive them and sometimes a few other "basic" hd channels like discovery or tnt.

try googling your cable system, city and hd channels to see if someone has posted a list of channels (eg, 88-1 or 102-1)
