I have compaq presario M2010us ... its hanging after loading windows and sometimes before... so how can i fix it and why this is happening..???

My first thought would be to immediately check the processor fan for dust build up on the heats ink since a pretty common issue with allot of laptops is that a small layer of dust builds up on the heatsink sort of like a thin blanket that prevents the air from cooling the heatsink like it is supposed to and that of course causes the cpu to overheat and one of the first signs of overheating is the whole thing freezing up.. And at first it may just happen when doing something extensive that requires allot of cpu power but after a while as the dust layer gets a little thicker it will happen more frequently and could result in a dead cpu after a while. (I have seen this situation countless times)

only problem is that if there is not an access door (removable piece of plastic) on the bottom that allows direct access to cpu fan and heatsink then you will probably have to take apart the laptop somewhat to be able to see if that is the problem (if you do not feel comfortable taking apart the laptop then I would suggest it in to a shop and having them do it since it shouldn’t cost a fortune since its not like they are replacing the motherboard or anything ) since there is really no way to shine a flash light into the vents and see the dust because the layer of dust builds up on the other side of the fan and usually at the other end of the heat pipe on the fins of the heatsink and is usually impossible to see through the vent. NOTE: if you’re going to be attempting to do the repair yourself try to make note or which screws you remove from where since some of them are different lengths for a reason And be extra careful of ribbon wire connections when separating panels and so on

Maybe it has come to got error in the system files or you were infected with a potent virus, try to boot your system in safe mode by pressing "F8" at first boot. select with network connection. scan your system online like panda online scan( go to panda website).

on safe mode You can also restore your system at the previous date where in the system is functional.

else if this not work then you have to clean install the system by reformatting and reinstallation of the OS. ( you can search the document in installing windows in google.) but first back up your important files before proceeding.

you may have damaged the computer if it fell as you say. As for installing windows Xp that should not be a problem did you download driver first and burn a CD. If not get on another computer and donwload driver for your laptop burn them on a CD then install your drivers for XP that way you have the right drivers and it should work if not damaged inthe fall.

these are common infos you can see on beep codes.

if you have AMI, your computer has memory problems. First check video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. Have you looked at the system sound preferences to see if it s open? Also the master control could be muted.
