If you do not have guages (freon) and have a licens to proforme this type of work you will need to have someone qualified in this area to varify. You can call sears home repair @ 800 469-4663
There could be several things causing the frig to be cold but not cold enough. First check thermostat control and air control. Both should be set in the middle setting for normal operation.Next check to see if evaporater fan is running in freezer. It should be running whenever compressor runs and circulates cold air inside frig as well as freezer. Next check if condensor fan motor is running. It blows air over condensor coils to remove heat. Last ,check condensor itself for dirty coils. If they are matted up with hair dust, etc. it will cause poor cooling. you can give thorough cleaning with vacuum cleaner. Hope this helps
Not fixed but I do not want to spend MORE money to find out what's wrong with this AMANA piece of ****. Apparently, from research on the net, the compressor or motor is not strong enough in this unit to actually do the job...but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm happy to hear them...
1.Dirty condenser coils where heat is transfered to the room air. 2.Frost build-up on back wall of freezer section which would indicate a defrost system problem.
Here are some things you can check yourself. Does it run all the time almost non-stop? if so check the vents under the front of the frig and make sure they are clean. Aslo check the condenser coil (either in back of the frig,or under the frig)Make sure that coil is clean. The condenser coil has to have contact with the outside air in order to release the heat it removed from inside the freezer.
Make sure you frig has plenty of ventilation ( wall too close on sides and back) Hope this helped. If not then you should have a pro look at it.
One of two things. When you open the freezer drawer, do you hear a fan running? If not, that's the problem. The Evaporator fan. Its' job is to circulate cold air throughout the entire cabinet. Without it, things get toasty.
If not the Evap Fan, it'll be the sealed system... meaning that it's developed a leak and freon is escaping (not harmful for you or your Family). If it's just under 5 years old, this will be a warranty repair. Over 5? Bad news... it'll cost ALOT to have it repaired.
