B1561 All in one will not start. The clock, timer, bread selection all work but when start is pressed nothing happens. No heat in the element,no paddle motion,no sound as if the paddle was trying to start etc. This machine has only been used a couple of times and has been on a shelf for a number of years. It will turn off by holding down the start stop button and will turn on with the light illuminated but nothing happens other then the time remaining timer counting down. Any ideas?

Our old Black & Decker had to "warm up" for half an hour after pressing start before anything happened in the pan. Check your owners' manual to see if the program you selected has a half hour warm up before mixing starts. For the model we had, dough took 2 hours, instead of 1 1/2 hours in our previous breadmaker.

Heating element support is black

Ignore it.... is just carbon from use. Flour dust gets on there and over time with heat it becomes black but is harmless.

Wont start mixing

Which program are you using, white, wheat, french, etc.? Black and Decker bread makers I think ever start right away. They warm the oven gently for awhile. If your machine hasn't started mixing within 30 minutes of pressing start, only then do you have a problem. That is true for the Wheat program for sure.

Does taste of plastic paddle on older black and decker b1561 bread maker get into the bread itself

It's likely a harder, heat resistant type of plastic and the breadmaker does not get hot enough to cause the paddle to release any toxic chemicals.

I have the ingredients in the bread maker. I plugged in the machine. I pressed "select." Then I selected the type of bread I wanted to bake. The baking time shows. I pressed "start." ...

press the stop button and hold it down for 2 seconds. unplug and choose your program again. Don't touch the timer buttons if you want to start the program right away.
