What can i do when my lexmark T642 printer displays 922.02 service fuser error when the printer was never used?

The T642 is a monochrome printer and as such does not have an Oil wiper. The only wiper that should be needed with this printer is the hard plastic one that ships with the printer. These wipers are permanent and are only replaced when you install a new fuser. Oil wipers are usually only used with color laser printers.

Service Fuser Error appears when the fuser does not warm to the required temperature. For this error on this Lexmark model T642, the manual states you should power off the printer and power it back on, which you did, and if it is not plugged into a wall power point, change it to a power point mounted directly on the wall. Personally, I never got a Lexmark printer to work doing this, but this is in the manual. If this won't help, and the printer is under warranty, you should log it in with the servicing company.

If the printer is out of warranty, your next option is to change the fuser which costs around $350, so I think you would be better off getting a new printer unless you find a second hand one on Ebay.

The error indicates either the fuser unit is not able to reach and maintain the correct temperature, or a component of the fuser unit is not working. Make sure the printer is plugged in straight to the power source in the wall, bypass any surge device or power strip as they can cause a low amperage problem which can trigger a false fuser error. Also, you can try going to Diagnostics Menu by turning off the printer. Press and hold Down and Right arrow buttons simultaneously while powering on the printer. Release the buttons when Performing Self Test displays. Then look for EP Setup. Look for Fuser Temperature and make sure the setting is on Normal. If it's already on the Normal setting. Printer may require service. Possible problem on fuser, LVPS or the system board.

Great job. You pretty much did all the troubleshooting needed. If those troubleshooting steps did not help resolve the problem, the most likely cause of the error is that the sensor inside the fuser has gone bad. It's a fuser problem. I suggest you contact Lexmark technical support or your authorized service provider for further assistance.

this error is a scanner lost lock error and can be caused by the scanner or the logic board. if this error comes up immediately on power up the scanner motor is not initializing by percentages of failure the scanner is approximately 85% the logic board 15% i would change the scanner

a 920 error means your fuser is under temperature at standby. you should replace the thermistor it cycles the fuser on and off to maintain these temps

The error 201 means exactly what you are getting;
a paper jam between the printer input and exit sensors.

It is common on these printers for toner to build up on the fuser input guide and eventually gets so big as to catch on the leading edge of the paper,

you will need to scrape the encrusted toner off of the guide.

If the device has done a large volume of printing (say over 100k) it may be a faulty fuser assembly.

The sensor in the fuser unit is jammed/broken. The fuser will need to be repaired or replaced.

Service fuser error requires a maintenance kit, this is approx $1000 + installed, if this is new, I would be taking it back because it shouldnt have this error. You possibly might be able tto fix it by replacing the fan in the back but thats only worked for me in approx 1 out of every 10 times.

Hi The Fuser has failed meaning the temp of the fuser is to high or to low. In order to fix this error you can try powering down the printer for 10 to 15min and retry . I think though you will have to call for service or replace the fuser yourself!!! I hope I have helped.
