SOURCE: Bobbin won't wind Singer 7422

Your problem lies with the main shaft that is to tight to release the bobbin winder mechanism, because of old grease and oil becoming sticky. A short term solution will be to remove the needle, in order not to hurt you, and then hold on to the needle bar with your left hand, while engaging the bobbin lever with your left hand. This will prevent the main shaft to rotate and your winder should work. In the long term, take it to your dealer to clean the oil and grease. You will not be able to open the machine casing yourselve, as you might damage the casing and or electronics.

Good luck!

SOURCE: how do i replace the bobbin case in singer machine

When you insert the bobbin case, make sure the "knub" on the bobbin case (#1) is just to the left of the position finger bracket (#2). It should sit in there nicely and you should be able to spin the hand wheel freely.

Can`t rewind bobbin

Sounds like it may be a bad solenoid or clutch inside. When it tries to reverse direction to rewind is sounds like it's getting stuck. The lights comming on might be an indication that the machine detects a problem. You could try to open it and see if any of the gears are broken or out of place or if any of the teeth on the gears are missing. But I would get it serviced if you're not comfortable with opening it up.

Trying to wind a bobbin and within 2 seconds it stops and the red led lights flash

If you do not have a manual, you can download one here - http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/singer/7442.html

If the manual does not help and if the machine is still working, you might consider purchasing a Sidewinder Bobbin Winder (check the Internet for the best price) and forgo taking it in for a $100 + service and repair fee.

Bobbin filling

Does the winder spin freely by hand? If so then it needs to be adjusted, maybe a new bobbin tire also. If not then try oiling it and freeing it up by hand.
Hope this helps.
