Kodi and other sideloaded apps will only appear on the Fire TV Stick home screen if your device is running software version 5.0.5.1 or newer.
Make sure about your device's software version by going to Settings-> System-> About.

Hey, there are couple of ways to download as well as installing Kodi on Firestick. I am not sure which method you used to download Kodi. I would suggest you download Kodi using ES File Explorer and then it will show install button as soon as download completes.
