If the amp works ok then i would suspect a misadjusted class A/B bias adjustment ,,or more likely miswired speakers

in your case the amp might be a "bridge" output stage ... (two amps driving each speaker from both sides .. if one of those outputs is shorted to ground (as if the speakers are grounded share a wire then things will get hot .. each speaker must be on its own in these systems .. try disconnecting all speakers and see if it still gets hot ..

Check your speaker output cable and connector, they might have connected to body of car.

  1. Remove all input / output cable from amp
  2. Plug the power into amp.
  3. if still the amp is still heating.
  4. Check if any screw used to fix is not connected any part of the amp output or input point.

Do I get a replacement phone or is there still a chance of reviving it?

dear Leah Buss, when we have high teperature on phones, it means either battery shouled be change, or we have very high leakage caused by wet or water damage, anyway first we have to take the battery outside and check if we can power on the mobile using external power supply , or new battery, if done , means the mobile not died , then we have to clean the main board completely using good cleaner to avoide any more leakage later , notice :( for technics, we can calculate the amount of leakage by measuring resistance between battery positive & ground poles on the main board , suitable value should be between 300:700 ohm, in side , and other should be infinity) Ahmed Tahseen

I need to put my hard drive into an enclosure but I cannot figure out if I need to switch it to a slave before adding it to another computer

i have done this alot for my customers and its really simple. if you look up your drive and get the jumper settings for it and set it to cable select or master in a one drive enclosure it will work well. i do not recommend putting it on slave because some enclosures will not recognize the drive, I do recommend having an enclosure with a fan on board and an external power switch. the reason it the fan will extend the life of the drive and the power switch eill allow you to power it on and off without having to flatten (power hot swap) the drive. Hot swap is ok but this is better than just unplugging the drive. removing the power from the drive keeps the drive in park until you re-power. as long as the drive is "parked" it is les likely to cause read/write sector errors.

We have a Fender P-250 PA system. We get the protect light on when we turn on the system rather than the green power light. We can not get it to operate. Please advise... Gary

Likely there is either a failure in one of the power amps or the power supply. The protect means excess current is being sensed.

You need to take in for repair... these are really hard to work on due to the packaging.

Overcurrent lights comes on whenever my amp is on

this can only mean 2 things, either your over working the amp, which means your amp is trying to push power that it don't have, and it's getting hot which is known as thermal mode. and the other reason can be that make sure amp rms. matches the rms. of your subs.

I have a new fender twin amp. It keeps cutting out when playing, get really hot and is very noisey

Sounds like you might have a problem in the output stage and that it hasn't completely blown out just yet. I'd expect it to get worse soon, like not working at all or maybe smoke coming out or both. You might consider seeing a repair tech. soon. Good luck.

Amp getting really hot

Disconnect the speaker wires and the RCA jacks from the amp.

If it still gets hot, the amp needs to be repaired.

If it doesn't get hot, check the impedance of the speakers and make sure they're wired properly.

If they are wired for the proper impedance, check each voice coil with an ohm meter to make sure none of the voice coils are shorted.

Sounds like you like your music like me... LOUD. If you've done this a number of times, there are a few things that can happen:

1. You've blown the speakers... but you've said it operates for 2 seconds, then cuts out.
2. You've damaged the amplifier modules within the amp and they immediately overheat upon power-up. Does the music come back like 5 or 10 seconds after the unit cuts out?
3. Thermal switch has malfunctioned and just cuts off the power to the amplifier modules as soon as it sees any heat.
4. If you've gotten the amp really HOT during playing, it's possible that it's as simple as the amp modules are only intermittently connected (fatigued/stressed or cold solder joints) at the on the PCB. Just resolder the connections of the amp module to the PCB. I've seen that happen numerous times and that's where I'd place my money.

AMP

If the amp gets hot or goes into protection with no input signal and no speakers/wires connected to the speaker terminals, the amp likely has shorted output transistors. It's not a complex amp. Any reputable shop should be able to repair it.
