SOURCE: feed dogs on my machine wont rise above plate

Open the door infront of the hook race assembly/bobbin carrier and check to the right of that. There is a chrome lever which engages with slots in the plastic casing. The correct position for this is as far to the left as it will go. If it is to the right furthest extent it will disengage the feed dogs. It should disengage automatically but if has not, press the lever down and slide it to the left. Good luck

SOURCE: bobbin thread will not pick up nor will dog feed rise

my Brother sewing machine model VX 1120 will not pick up the Bobbin Thread. Machine is fairly new with only several hours use. I have changed needles , tried different bobbins, cleaned the machine. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Feed dogs do not come back up after lowering

Are you talking about the feed dogs or the presser foot. Either way, if you moved a lever to lower them, there is probably a screw that either fell out or has become loose that holds the linkage to the lever.

I think the feed dog lever needs to be positioned on the right.

I lowered the feed dogs and now they won't come back up?

Feed dogs will generally not rise until you take a few stitches on the machine.

How to make feed dog rise and fall?

Make certain that the feed dog setting is not dropped as for darning or free motion quilting. Some feed dogs will continue to move forward and backward even when they are in the dropped position.

If that isn't the problem, then you should probably take it for service.

Material won't move? How to adjust feed dog if that is the problem

Is the feed dog raised into sewing position and not dropped as for darning? Feed dogs need to be in the raised position in order to pull the fabric through the machine.

If the stitch length is set too short, it will cause the fabric to barely move thereby causing the machine to stitch in one place.

Raise your presser foot and gently rotate the handwheel and watch the feed dogs. Do they rise when coming to the front of the machine, move toward the back of the machine, drop down below the needle plate, and move forward to the front of the machine again? If so, the feed dogs are working properly.

If the feed dogs never rise, they are in the dropped position for darning or free motion quilting when you would move the fabric manually.

If, on the other hand, the feed dogs do not move at all, then they are seized and you should probably get your machine serviced.

When I try to sew, why doesn't fabric advance?

Either something is broken or the feed dogs have been lowered. This is done when using things such as automatic buttonholers and such. There is a level, usually under the plate, that lowers the feed dogs.

How do I lower and raise dogs on the bernina 1008

unless there is a mechanical failure , the feed dogs are governed by the forward/reverse control
if it is in neutral position then the dogs will not move

I have been sewing all morning. Suddenly the fabric does not feed everything is clean

Look at the feed dogs to see if they are rising above the needle plate at least 1 mm. If not rising lint may have felted between the feed dogs and the needle plate. It could also be the feed dogs have been lowered, or the height has slipped. If the feed dogs are above the needle plate turn the hand wheel and see if they are moving from the front of the machine to the back. If not it is a length adjustment. If this is normal the pressure on the fabric may be too low. Another problem may be the timing of the feed dogs. The feed dogs should rise above the needle plate when the needle leaves the fabric and descend when the needle comes down into the fabric. This requires an expert to fix.

If the darn setting is selected the feed dogs will not rise, someone has probably inadvertantly selected darn.
