If you've never taken a printer apart before, bring it to a repair shop. The sticky note is inside the printe, and the printer has to be at least partially disassembled to get it out.

Paper jam in HP photosmart A616. Can see it but can't pull it out as it is too thin and crinkled.

Take a sheet of paper and fold it in two so the top and bottom of the paper meet. Put the folded end of the paper in the printer so it can push the jam through. There are cleaning sheets you can get at office supply stores that are sticky on both sides. They work well getting small pieces of paper out as well as cleaning built up paper dust from the rollers.

that it is the correct size of paper and not too small,(tip) sometimes small sheet can be attached to full size sheet to enable printer to print.

A single sheet of paper has jamed, can not release it.

Clearing a paper jam

If the paper jams in the printer, follow the steps below to clear the jam:

Remove the paper stack from both paper trays.

Press the POWER button. Instead of turning off, the printer will try to eject the jammed sheet.

If the printer cannot eject the paper, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

NOTE: Do not press the POWER button again before unplugging the power cord.

Open the rear access door at the back of the printer. To do this, press the handle to the right and then pull out the door.

Remove the jammed paper. Make sure no small pieces or obstructions remain.

Reattach the rear access door and plug the power cord back into the printer.

The printer will turn on automatically and be ready for printing again.

Reload the paper in the IN tray.

Try printing again.

Set Envelopes Correctly Before setting envelopes, press down on all four corners and edges of the envelopes to remove curls and bends, as well as any air contained.

i80_envelopes_1.gif
Note: The flap of the envelope should be straightened if bent. If the envelope is curled, hold the opposite corners and gently bend them in the opposite direction. If the leading edge of the envelope is puffed or curled up, use a pen, etc. to press the envelope flat and sharpen the crease. (Press the envelope completely flat, working from the middle to the edge.)

i80_envelopes_2.gif How to set envelopes:
  1. Set envelopes to the right side of the sheet feeder. Set envelopes with their longer side vertically and the flap either at the bottom or on the left.

  2. Pinch and slide the paper guide until it firmly resets against the left side of the stacked envelopes.

Note: The maximum number of envelopes that can be loaded is five.

Printed out a inkjet magnet sheet now won't anything else! Help!

OK Christina, did the whole magnet page come out without any missing tear outs or pieces? You probably have a stuck piece of sticky paper in your feed or rollers. Look in your manual for clearing paper jams and examine your rollers while your at it from stray pieces of paper.

Streaks in my pictures

You can clean the print head by using the following procedure from the troubleshooting section of the manual:

Take paper out of the printer
Take a single sheet and put it back in - upside down (i.e. shiny side down).
Close the door and wait for the sheet to eject.
Put all the paper back into the printer in the correct orientation (shiny side up), close the lid and print again.

I've discovered even better results by keeping the special blue sheet that comes with each paper pack. I run the special sheet through before I'm about to use the printer for the first time (after not using it for a few days), and also after every three prints. The result is much better printouts for me. The special blue sheet cleans and calibrates the print head. Just put the blue sheet in the paper tray at the bottom of the stack with the bar code facing down and close the lid. It will automatically eject.

I finally found the door on the back of the printer and opened it. The paper was easy to remove at this point. However I would like to say that nowhere in your manual that came with the printer does it show this door nor does the trouble shooting info tell about it. It should think this is something that you would consider adding to the manual!

'paper jam' error on canon pixma ip4300

Hi guys, I eventually found a solution to the problem for my printer. With the top cover open, I pushed a sheet of 120 micron thickness A4 clear plastic binding cover through the exit tray as far as it would go to rest against the bottom row of rollers. I switched the printer off then back on again and as the rollers lifted momentarily, I pushed the sheet of plastic as far up through the machine as I could before the rollers went down again - it went in a fair distance. The printer then ejected the plastic sheet. I then put the plastic sheet into the paper tray and tried to print a blank document page. The plastic fed through cleanly and my printer has been working since without any error messages. I hope this works for you.
