My son had entered a lock code that he cannot remember, the manual instructed me to enter "QV" and 9, and it works, but I have to do it every time I turn on the TV. Is there a way to overide his code permantly so I can use my cable box univ. remote alone and not having to find my fact. remote each and every time?

Mitsubishi sets use a four-digit code for a V-Chip locked program, view a locked TV, cancel the lock, or to enter the V-Chip lock menus. You can view the locked shows on the TV set by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the remote at the same time, whenever your code is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV and asks you to enter a new code.
OK.
Bypassing the V-Chip Lock on most Mitsubishi sets: Mitsubishi sets use a four-digit passcode that is required to view a V-Chip locked program, view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter the V-Chip lock menus. If you don't have the passcode, it is easy to bypass. This is neccessary if you forgot the code, purchased the set used, or if you simply don't feel like searching through your files to find it.
To bypass the V-chip: You can view the locked shows by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the remote at the same time, whenever your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV.
To reset the code: When you use the button combination 9 and QV while entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode. Good luck, and let us know how you made out with this TV set.
To unlock your set requires two steps: the first is to get past the lock screen. To do that, press the QV( or previous channel?) and 9 buttons at the same time when you are asked to enter your lock code.
Now that you're past the lock screen, find the menu that covers locking and unlocking. QV/9 (previous channel/9) is a one-time bypass; if you turn the set off, it'll be locked again when you turn it on, so you first need to LOCK it again, with a pass code you can remember (try 1,1,1,1). Once you lock it, you can exit from all the menus, then try to change inputs. It'll ask for a pass code, which you now know!

Using the Mitsubishi remote, go to the locked function and when it asks for the code pres QV and 9 at the same time on the remote, this will work in any mode which may be locked, including entering a new password!
you must enter the factory service mode, and re-setting the code of EEPROM use the remocon to enter the service menu.. here press on the remocon picture mode and display to see on the screen the service menu.. let me know if it is go on.

Are you sure there is not a problem with the TV set? The set will need to be on to unlock the front panel.
