I put music on ipod from windows media player . i (safely remove)ipod .the ipod screen displays(ok to disconnect)and is frozen on that screen it will not power down or go to main menu

first clear the ipod memory form all songs.
move jast one song, if it's working you have blocked the memory to full, if not.
hard reset the ipod
hold both power & home button for 30 sec.
than run it one nor time
if that didn't help, instal a fresh ipsw.

IPod and iPhone reset: How to do a hard reset.

Apple Support documented how to perform a reset.
However, note that resetting the iPhone or iPod is not the same with restoring the iPhone or iPod.
Restore will erase and wipe out completely all information and data that contained inside the device, including musics, songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, call lists, maps, apps installed and any other data.
All iPhone or iPod Touch settings are restored to their factory condition.

Meanwhile, reset is more about hard reset, for those familiar with terms associated with PDAs or Windows Mobile. In other word, reset is simply a forced reboot, where power is cut off from iPhone or iPod Touch to restart the device from fresh.

To reset the iPhone or iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.

Will not turn on at all

1. Open iTunes.
2. Connect iPod.
3. Click on your iPod, and click Restore.
This should solve it as it restores the original software, note, all data will be erased.

If this does not help: Call APPLE.

My 80g ipod video is next to useless

sadly it's time for a replacement...your friend sold you a defective ipod. Go to ebay or apple.com and buy a refurbished ipod. The hard drive is bad on yours and it's not worth fixing.

i think if u shove it up ur ****, it should be freshly formatted.

There is a program called " Ipod Access ". Install it on the new computer, attach your Ipod, press the backup button and select a directory where you want the songs to be. Good Luck.

I have a problem

You will have to reset the ipod. If you have a macintosh computer, you may have to do a factory reset, which deletes the entire content from the player, and start fresh...navigate to FIXYA's ipod tips which will instruct you to, or go to Apple's ipod page. Each ipod model has a different reset command option.
