I've had this tv for a little more than a year and i seem to have the same problem. Came home one day and turned the TV on the sound came up for a brief second and as far as the picture is was nothing but a reddish blurr and also lasted for a brief second, after that the screen went blank and the power light(blue light)started flashing. I'm so disappointed. I've made some phone calls to tv repair shops and it will be about $300 dollars, as if the TV wasn't expensive to start with problems so soon.

This webpage has info about repairing these tv's I repaired mine and shared the info there. Two capasitors in the power supply are known for going bad and fring one or both of the sdr boards.
I would say you are lucky to get a pretty fair price, sounds like a convergence problem- if the tv is a projection wide screen. worth the investment Julio [email protected]
