No display on SyncMaster 920NW after reboot from power failure

Had a power failure; no ups backup. switched off the power switch at back of computer. When power returned, switched back on pwer switch on computer and started booting process. Monitor remained blank, blue power light flashing. No display. Repeated switch offs off and reboots did not help the situation....even 10 12 hours after power returned. Hooked up a different (Dell) monitor to my system and the system worked fine.

Last time this happend it took several hours well after power returned before the samsung monitor displayed anything.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. Look in our monitor repair section for step by step repair guide for this model it should be the same power supply as the 930. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

After applying the power to monitor it is not getting switched on.

The problem is usually caused by one or two open capacitors in the power supply board.

Hi I Got a Samsung SyncMaster 920NW the display

If you are saying that it powers off in a few seconds you most probably have a bad (internal) power supply.

My monitor syncmaster 920nw hissing when is power on and diod not shine

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, falied inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG and other monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Samsung 920nw when it warms display disappears & a few

Most common cause of the failed monitors are bad caps in the power supply, if it is about two years old, I would open it up and look for bad caps first, then look for any burnt parts, post back so we can guide you further, see failed SAMSUNG monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Dark screen samsung syncmaster 920 N strange noise behind it

The clicking sound you hear is the power supply board trying to start up, this indicates the board has failed. This is a common problem with all LCD monitors after a few years of use. Parts called capacitors on the power supply board fail and they will keep the power supply from starting up correctly. If you can solder then you can repair the board yourself. Here is a link to a repair guide with pictures and videos showing how to dis-assemble the unit and then what to look for and replace to rebuild the board and get the unit back running.

Samsung SyncMaster 920nw suddenly went black now squeaks/flickers

The 920nw did have a 3 year warranty on the unit but they will be out of warranty now. The flickering power light is an indication of a failure in the power supply board. When the board fails it can't start up correctly and the power shuts down over and over so you get the blinking light and no display. This is a very common failure point on all LCD monitors after a few years of use. There are parts called capacitors on the power supply board and they filter the output power. When they fail the power is not properly regulated and the power supply shuts down and tried to restart so you get the flashing. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to dis-assemble the unit and then what to look for and replace to get it back up and running again.
