I have a canon PowerShot A70 that I purchased new in 2004 that I dropped several days after purchasing. The camera has worked flawlessly up until a few weeks ago when it started with the faulty CCD symptoms. Since it whas worked fine or the [ast several years I know this problem is not due to it falling and due to the faulty CCD. The camera is in very good condition with the exception of a small crack in the case from the fall and now I wonder if Canon will tell me that this issue is due to the camera being dropped and not with the faulty CCD or that the CCD problem is due to the fall, which I know it is not. Anyone have any advise?
Recommend sending it off to Canon anyways, but include a short note in the package stating your first three sentences above. Canon should fix the CCD image problem for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
