GE WHDRR418 top load washer won't spin at high speed; the washer does the complete cycle, and agitates in both directions and does physically spin, but it will not go into the 'high speed' spin that actually spins the water out of the clothes. It spins at a relatively constant low speed after the drain pump stops--previously you could hear it ramp up to high speed and it no longers does so. I have attempted the 'reset' that was posted here: unplug for 4 min, lift the lid 20 times, then push the knob and restart the machine. Either there is a nuance to the reset that no one has posted (i.e., can only reset on wash mode, can only reset with knob specifically in or out, etc) or something else must be wrong.

Does this machine have selectable care cycle switch? This needs to be set on Normal/Fast. If set on Normal/Slow, for example, it will only spin at the slower speed.

We can eliminate the motor and the switch since that part is working. sound like your timer might be faulty, timer make everything work in persistence cycles, if its goes bad sometime it tend to jump/skip cycles.

Model fwt645rhso will agitate but won't drain out, on spin cycle washer spins one way, stops goes back the other way, but water will not drain out. Does not rapidly spin on final cycle. Any...

There's an auxiliary switch in the door lock.switch assembly that is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to the spin cycle. The machine will NEVER advance to the spin cycle unless the auxiliary switch is activated as a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during a high-speed spin cycle that may result in physical injury. The drum tumbles back and forth while the machine control checks the auxiliary if activated but since it's not, the control will not command the motor speed control to spin the drum at high speed. These symptoms may indicate a faulty door lock/switch assembly and may need replacement. Click on the links below for the detailed troubleshooting instructions and replacement of the door lock/switch assembly.

Washer will do everything but spin out and agitate belt good can rotate with hand but on the belt will not spin on pulleys air coupler is good and threads are excellant any advice

Since spin and agitate are the two times the transmission is used, that is what I would look at that. The agitate is the slow cycle of the transmission and the spin is the high cycle. Can you physically view the belt, i.e. that you have things opened up?

hi Jlove.
Washer Fills but Does Not Agitate. If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drive washing machines do not have belts..

Try high speed only (cycles like cottons, heavy duty, etc. This happens when the low speed on the motor is not working. If high speed is working for you, the olny way to make the lower speeds work is to replace the motor.

Agitator doesn't spin during wash cycle

If The washer won't agitate
Check to make sure no clothing got wrapped around the agitator. Check the lid switch, timer, and drive belt, other potential causes, such as a bad transmission or bad agitate/spin solenoid, but they are much more involved.
if the washer won't spin, the lid switch, timer, drive belt, transmission, or agitate/spin solenoid could be the cause here as well. Sometimes if the load is unbalanced or too heavy, the washer won't spin. Take some of the clothes out and try the spin cycle again with a lighter load.

Here are the steps to replace the agitator.
1: Take the fabric softener dispenser off and pry off the agitator lid.
2: Use a socket wrench with an extension bar to remove the stud and seal.
3: Remove the agitator top and bottom.
4: Check the agitator clutch assembly (located in the agitator top) for excessive wear.
5: To replace, just reverse the directions.

the agitator is the spline insert . that you can replace. The spin problem is in the clutch which is a bigger job
