You always want to put a surge protector on all the small and big electronics for if you do not if lightin come in it would burn everything up. you might have had ligting come in and that is why some of your stuff is having problems now. if you own he home get a whole house serge protector. it will save you in the long run becuase if there is surge from the power company or from lighting then all your stuff will be protected.
might be to late to do this now for it seems like lighting all ready hit it

SOURCE: Circle Vertical IC please on picture
I've cropped out most of the picture so it would fit here. The vertical output IC is I601. It's circled in the picture below:
If you can't place it from this part of your image, it's on the heatsink just above and to the left of the horizontal output transformer, which has the high-voltage lead running to the picture tube. Resolder the IC connections and that will probably take care of your trouble.

Hi.
Here IC specsheet:LA78041
Also replace the 100uf/35 volt cap on pin three of the IC and the two zener diodes connected to the IC. That is part of standard repair. If you don't replace the whole lot the IC may blow again.
Here the IC for sale. Cost is less than $5.

It sounds that the kit is a Chinese one. Check the voltage to all terminals of vertical output IC. Check and replace it. This is a common problem to these kits.
