Sadly, it could be a worn out or lose ribbon cable, it has been a problem in many slide-out sets.

A total guess, but, open the screen and take a look underneath with a torch and a mirror, unless you pull it out. You may se the ribbon cable on the backside and how it curls or folds.

With luck you will spot something.

Otherwise

I'd suggest carefully splitting the screen and looking at the cables.

It is my best guess without seeing the unit.

Good luck

Then the player is defective, they are not repaired except under warranty due to cost, just replace it.

I have a Kenwood DNX7120 and the physical buttons on the bottom (att, vol controls, fnc, nav, src, etc) suddenly stopped working. Now, I have the remote control, so this isn't TOO much of a problem,...

My unit has the same issue, started a few weeks ago.

Here is a forum post where someone was able to fix their DXN7120 by replacing the button panel: http://www.kenwoodforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1247

Here is a parts diagram showing the buttons (PN: X16-628):

Maybe someone could write up how to get the panel apart? Otherwise I will once I get the replacement part.

I had the same problem. I opened up the unit and found out that there is a plastic gear that moves the loader. When worn the loader can not load tha magazines nor change cd's. I replaced the gear and the cd autochanger worked fine.

I have a kenwood 719 flip out monitor and i put a cd in it and the monitor says mecha error and won't let the cd come out. It just makes a bunch of noises. I pressed the reset button but that didn't work....

You can try to push the CD in further with an object and then try ejecting (be careful not to break the CD!). Also, the soft reset button on the outside of the unit may not work, but disconnecting constant power (hard reset) may cause the CD to automatically be ejected when powered back up again. This can be done by disconnecting the negative battery terminal on the car for 15 seconds. If these don't work, visit a local Kenwood stereo dealer for service as this is a common issue with the 719 series and 819 series.

Cd won't eject

After you hit the button...and it beeps....tap on the screen...where the color display is....not too soft but not so hard that you crack it....then it should open after a few times of tapping it and hitting the button. I found this at another forum, and it worked for me.
